Ive tried searching to see if anyone had posted something about the gapping for the spark plugs but found nothing. Can anyone help me out? The spark plugs were supposably made for the SC300's 2JZGE motor but when I looked at them they seemed to be kinda spaced out. I put them in anyway and now im getting misfire at idle. I need helpppp

 

You didnt measure the gap before you put them in? I have mine gapped at .30, but I have a 1jz. The 2jz-ge gap should be around .44 or something

 

.44 is factory gap. i have .32, but i'm turbo

 

Oh ok... if your boosted, you want to stay around .28-.32. Depending on how much is is missing at high rpm if any. If you are running more than stock boost than you should close the gap a little.

 

ahhh yes very nice. Now I have to take out everything again and gap those things. Thanks everyone for the help. I will keep the gap for the turbo plugs in mind since my future plans are to boost. Thanks everyone. I knew I could depend on CL members.

 

depending on what plugs you got why not just run factory gap as of now. then when you go turbo get new plugs with tighter gaps because you'll have to change them out anyways.

 

.44 is too wide of a gap. I corrected my gap spacing them out at .044. The motor was idling smoother than before with just a little bit of misfire because i was gapping them the savage way. But no worries, my MSD upgrade will take care of that problem. For anyone else that wants to know, the correct measurement is .044.

 

Hey guys I jst swaped my plugs and wires out but didnt find anything on the gap size til now so I set them at 28mm but I have a 93 stock 5-speed 2JZGE will this be ok? Im trying to pass smog and finally get this project on the road.

 

No it won't. Why didn't you just set them to stock gap since your are a running stock engine?

 

well thats what i was planning on doing. But when I took the old plugs out all the gaps were different sizes like whoever swaped them out last time didnt measure them, and the new ones were all different in sizes to so I just wanted to make sure they were all balanced. I jst wanna be able to pass smog and now I think I will(fingers crossed)

 

wait so your telling me I have to go back and gap them to .044 I gaped them at .028 will the car drive the same? or in other word can I pass smog with them gaped at .028?

 

.028 is tight. It may miss at idle with a gap like that, but it should drive ok besides that. I would open the gap. it will run cleaner if you do.

 

shoot so your telling me to go back and spread the gap a little more? That job was a pain in the neck to do. Theres no way to pass smog with them gap'd at .028 =/

 

It may pass, but I know my car misses every so often at idle and I have mine gapped down to that range. I have been too busy to open them up again, but I don't have to worry about smog either. My car idle noticeably better with the factory gap.

The only reason mine are gapped so low is because I was troubleshooting an ignition issue that turned out to be a neutral rev limiter. Once I figured out the problem and fixed it, I never went back and opened the gap back up on my plugs.
