Possibly buying a '95 sc300
I would like to get some people's opinions on if this car is worth the money or not. I saw there were some other posts similar so I thought I would get everyone's opinions.
The vehicle is a '95 sc300 auto with just under 100,000 miles. It was just repainted and is absolutely perfect. It is owned by a tint/clear bra guy and has a complete clear bra setup that is used for show (includes headlights, hood, bumper, mirrors, and lower sides.) The car also has a complete supra brake upgrade along with full front and rear poly bushings. The last upgrade is a supra posi rear end. The car also has a nice stereo.
Rims are Enkei Aegis (I think). Not sure about size but am assuming 17" as he was all about performance and the tires look fairly large (295 in the back).
Asking 11k without rims and 13 with. He is going to give me stock supra rims as I want the car without the rims.
The car is silver with black leather.
Opinions?
Thanks,
Mike

There's a guy selling a 98 SC300 automatic with 134k miles for $9500.
What is posi? Is that another word for limited-slip differential?
I'm never too keen on a car when it's been repainted. Personally, there's something about original factory paint that makes a car more attractive in my eyes, if I'm about to buy a used car.
Try test driving some other SC's in your area. If you're set on this one, get the lowest price you can.

IMO, this car is priced a bit on the high side..I see only 5spd SC300s at this specific price range but, not an AUTO..Judging from what your saying and from what I see, I say this car is worth in a range of 9k MAX in flawless perfect condition and scheduled maintenance..
If you have plans for FI in the future, I would pass on this car and go for a 5spd..If not, I would get a SC400, because an AUTO SC300 is sadly stuck on slow mode. I'm sure you can find another 95 SC400 or 300 in flawless overall condition for around 8k and have that extra 3.5k to do whatever your heart desires.
I would check why the car has been repainted. Platinum silver is a very strong paint, I can't see a reason why he would repaint the entire car unless it was in exceptionally bad condition due to previous owner(s) not taking care of the car. You also might consider the possibilty of this car being in an accident.
