$12k for a 95 5-speed

"regardless of rarity im not paying more for a car than its worth, thats just plain stupid"
Then there were certainly a lot of stupid people back in April-June of 2001 paying $ 2,000-$ 10,000 on ebay for a "spot" to pickup an SC430. Now I was not one of those "stupid" people since I had put a deposit on the car 6 months before it was released. I was #4 in line when the dealer started to get the SC's
I'm sure a lot of people do not think its very bright to put on a set of $ 3,000 wheels on a car that is worth less than $ 10,000 but people do it.
The point is that you will find very few 5 speeds with that type of mileage. If you can get the car in the 10 grand range its a fair price or spend the next 6 months of your life trying to find another one.

Market Value is different than Market demand, People!!
Yeah sure it is 95, and clutch is wore... who cares, I can get than change for performance clutch for under 500!!!! If I buy a 5-speed I would do the clutch job regardless
12000 is fine for than car... if it is near buy I will be the first one who drop the cash to the seller!!!
Just think about why peple still pays mega bucks for 3rd gen supras!!! not even a single one below 10000!!!!!
As far as the SC go, I would say if you really really like it, get it!!! no matter what is costs!!!

if you're not willing to pay up and cash and just low ball everyone pass this one up and leave it for someone who's wiling to pay and take car of it and get yourself an older 100k+ mile sc or a civic or something.
tell us what happens if you get the car or not.

I wouldn't say that. I got my 92 SC with 78k on the clock for around 7.5K.

i wouldnt say im a low baller, i call it smart shopping, im in no big hurry, i already have a 97 sc300 that i paid $10k for, and my first sc was a 93 sc400 that i paid $9k for with 80k on the clock, that car was worth $15k and i got it for $9k, if you can get a car for cheaper do it, its called bargaining

I've been watching the value of SCs (esp. 5 speeds) since 2001... and it would seem that as of late, a lot of the market is being snapped up quickly.
Indeed there are good deals out there, but I think they're becoming harder and harder to come by.
I got my last SC a year ago w/ 66.8k on the clock for $9,500 -- it had just had the 60k service 5,000 miles before. It was a great car
Now I'm looking at cars with ~80k on the clock for 11k
That's a market shift to me.

With that mileage, I'd expect the car to be in excellent condition. If that's the case I'd say it's worth the $12k.
You want to see an overpriced SC? Try $19,995 for a 95 w/70k. I've seen black on black 97's go for about $16k-$18k w/60k on them.

No wonder it's been on AT for the longest.

Oh my, that will sit on AT for quite awhile, I'm afraid.

Well, I look at the car this way. If it is in good condition and it will make you happy, meaning the price you pay doesnt bring down the happyness value too much, just talk the guy down as much as you can and buy it. My 93 sc300 auto, 112k cost a bit less than 12k after taxes here in washington but it makes me happy so it was worth it. oh yeah, got it last march.

$11,500 for a 95 SC400?
Hey fellas
My dad just found a 1995 garage kept SC400 with only 40K miles on it. Its had a little damage to the front bumper but has been fixed. do you think 11,500 is a good price? what price do you think he should offer, if everything checks out. He said the interior was in pretty good shape and so was the paint. not sure if there is traction control or not. thanks guys

I just ran kbb myself on a '95 5-speed with no additional options checked and it comes out to $11.9K. Tradein is $9.3K. I understand you're not willing to pay more than the car is worth, but kbb is screwed up when it comes to rising values in vehicles. For instance, 300zx Twin Turbo values have been on the rise a lot in the last 2 years. 3 years ago you could get a decent high mileage tt for $5K. Now you can't get one with any mileage in good condition for less than $8K, yet the kbb value has continued to drop.
The car you're looking at, if truly in stellar condition, is probably worth a lot more than the $11.9K private party value. In fact, I'm so sure of it, that if you decide not to buy it, I'd like to if it's anywhere in California.
