this is probably a stupid ? but if i got Eibach lowering springs (1 inch), would i have to get new/different shocks or could i just keep the OEM ones?

you can keep the OEM ones without a problem.
but the oem shocks will wear out faster due to more aggressive spring rate. to save an extra labor cost and alignmnet, most people do springs amd shocks at the same time.
