Default Engine Differences?

I did a search and came up with nothing for some reason. Can anyone explain to me what causes the increase of 10 HP and 10 TQ with the 96-97 SC400's? Also, looking on intellexual.net, why is it that the 1995 SC400 was 0.2 seconds quicker 0-60 and 0.1 seconds quicker in the 1/4 mile than the 1993? Thanks in advance...

Must be the sleeker style front bumper on the 95-96 cars!

Well Jbrady posted something to explain this a while back but I'll try and recollect as much as I can.

First off, they revised the cams, bumped up compression to 10.4:1. Forgot what else.

But I also read that when the first gen uzfe's came out (92-95), they may have been engine rated at 250hp but in actuality it may have been more like 230hp in part because the engine dyno involved no maf, headerback tubing, and somethin else i can't remember.

Your best place for research: http://www.intellexual.net

"In 1998, both the SC300 and SC400 received VVT-i (intelligent variable valve timing) engine technology. These motors have completely redesigned heads, which boast variable valve timing on their intake camshafts via an oil-driven helical gear-drive. 1998 and newer Lexus models with 4.0L V-8s are capable of low to high 14-second quarter miles. - (info provided by gs400998)"
