Tailights still not working
Guys,
After pulling the car apart I still have no tailights. I replaced the harness, relays, fuse, bulbs and they are still not working.
At this point I am considering running a wire back for my tails that is spliced into my headlights. I really don't want to ghetto it but I am clueless as to why they are still not working??

Let's do this the "correct way" .
Q- do you have a voltmeter?
A- if so, take the voltmeter and probe the fuses for the lights, see if there is power at both sides of the fuses. probe the rear harness. See if there is power at the rear harness. If there is power at the fuses, but not the harness, you obviously have a break in the line. Find it. You will not find the answer to the problem here on this forum, you will only find it with forum guidance (me
) and your volt meter. The DMM is the only thing that can find it for you.

A- if so, take the voltmeter and probe the fuses for the lights, see if there is power at both sides of the fuses. probe the rear harness. See if there is power at the rear harness. If there is power at the fuses, but not the harness, you obviously have a break in the line. Find it. You will not find the answer to the problem here on this forum, you will only find it with forum guidance (me

I am only supposed to have power at one side of the fuse right?? I checked this with my light tester.
I have power at the fuse box. The fuse has been checked and is ok. The tailight relay has been checked.
OK, now explain to me about my DMM. I have never fully understood how to use it. I have 3 choices where to plug my red and black into.
1 - V/Resistance/m/A
2 - COM
3 - 10A
which goes where and which is not used?
Next, where do I turn my switch?
1 - Resistance ( 20M, 2M, 200K, 20K, 2k/, 200/)
2 - AC V~ (600,200)
3 - DC V- (600,200,20,2)
4 - DC mA= (200,20,2)
5 - NPN/LED
6 - PNP
Also, what number would I turn it to at each one ( my options are stated in parantheses above.)
No idea why these damn things don't come with instructions.

Now, unplug this plug and probe the wires for voltage (on the side of the plug going to the front, not the tail light plug)with your headlights on. Ground the black wire from your voltmeter, and use the red one to probe each pin for voltage.

I don't mean to interrupt but in case OLT is not on at the moment. The answer is DCV, 20. (DC volts, 0-20 volt scale). Like he said, black (COM) wire to car ground, probe with red wire (hooked to V, not to 10A).

Any help is always appreciated - thank yo for your input! Looks like OLT just beat you to it!! But please continue to offer any input you may have as I am determined to get to the bottom of this!!

Anyway,
since we know there is no power at the back, we move forward. you can start at the back and work forward, or the reverse, follow the wires and find the severed connection, or point where the plug isnt in correctly.
If i had to start giving a few idea's, i'd say find the fuse that DEFINATELY controls the tail lights and make certain the contacts on the WIRE coming out of the back of the fuse box are mating good with the fuse holder, then follow the wires from there... find out where the voltage stops.
PS- you did make sure you had a GOOD ground point for the other (black) probe on the voltmeter right?
