SC300 Weight Reduction Worksheet
There was what looked like a small amp installed in the same bracket under the cd changer. I removed it with the cd changer but the audio sounded very muffled without it so I plugged it back in. It weighed around 3 lbs.
Yes, they're direct replacements.
VSsc400's estimate was rather on the high side. The stock seats and hood weigh 180-190 lbs total. Supra seats are probably 60 lbs combined (not 100% positive about that, but somewhere in that ballpark), and the average CF hood is around 30 lbs. That makes the total savings 100 lbs tops, but more likely 80-90 lbs.

With the Pioneer system, the sub amp is separate, so that's all you had playing.
yes they are direct bolt in. if you look on my thread I touched on this subject and on how ungodly heavy the stock ones are.
I just sold my mint condition mk4 front black leather seats which were 88 lbs total. would have liked to put them in the sc but i needed the money more.
This has the makings of a good sticky, but with it being 31 pages long and filled with a lot of alternative posts, it’s difficult. If the contents of the thread were compiled onto page 1 this could be seriously awesome!

For all the people talking about MK4 Supra seats, they aren't really all that great so I'd recommend just going aftermarket. I think the only real positive to the MK4 seats is being able to bolt them right in...which I admit is pretty great.
So far here is what I've done, but there will be plenty more to come in time.
92 SC400 with no TRAC, no heated seats, and no sunroof - 3600 pounds scale verified with full tank
Antigravity smart lithium battery (-30 pounds)
Recaro Pole Position fabric drivers seat on quasi-stock rail (Frankenstein) (-45 pounds)
Rear muffler delete (temporary) on stock exhaust (-32 pounds)
Calculated weight with full tank is 3492 pounds, but I'm only just getting started. I definitely have some ideas that haven't been normally done, but it's not worth getting people excited about anything until I actually do it. Be wary of removing weight on the rear section of the car as it's easy but you'll upset weight distribution much more so than by removing weight up front. It's a pretty common issue, and of course it can be harder to remove weight up front...but that's where you'll get your best return. When I even remove the spare tire and run low fuel loads, my straight line from a dig is quantifiably worse as the car struggles to hook up. This would be even more pronounced from a handling POV if you like to turn of course.

Love to see threads about weight reduction, even though it's obviously a topic that hasn't been visited in a minute on this forum.

Although it's probably an odd question, does anyone know if the OEM door beams can be removed from the doors? Keep in mind I'm not asking if you SHOULD do this, I'm only asking if you CAN do this...if it has been done. If so, what did the door beams actually weigh? Thanks all!

Edit: I looked at my spreadsheet, I show 20lbs for the door bars and the inside skins. That is going to vary depending on how much of the door you gut, since mine is a race car and I look for every pound my door is very flimsy due to gutting.
It would purely be a guess but I would think the bar and end brackets are over half the 10lbs/door but again is a guess.
