Default CAt removal

MyLex,,

I would not remove your cats, until you do some more mods. With out other mods you will loose low end power. I have had direct experience with it. Ask sc400nos about it. he lost 2 tenths off of the gas, but gained about 1 tenth when on the gas.

That just proves that it does not help until you are making enough power at topend to need the airflow. It is a give and take game. Give to low end and you will take away from the topend powerband. Viceversa....

Did you call Sun cool yet?/

I think the best combo would be cat removal and the torque converter. SHould make a big difference.

On the cat removal issue, there is some good info on the thread "Exhaust H.P./sound gains"... Some guys had it done, and they went in to detail about the cats, pros and cons. Also on that thread, Mind has the cats removal documented and the sound difference. There is also info on the GS forum about hi flow cats.

After their input on cat removal, I decided to wait a while longer, and just purchase a better quality hi-flow mufflers than I have now, probably Dynomax or the Flow Master "Delta flow 50 series"... to save $$$ and the results have been the same vs the top $$$ units.

OK...it's relatively easy to understand that when ever you increase flow(ie no cats, catback, headers) you increase power(hp), yes you will lose lowend torque but you WILL gain topend, you should not lose HP up top only gain it. Besides this loss will be less noticeable if you have a manual transmission, an automatic tranny will feel the power loss MUCH more than a 5-speed. I plan on removing them soon as well, however I will make a dummy cat over the pipe for emissions visual inspections.
