Default sc300 distributor install

Putting the distributor back in, do I line up the notches on the distributor and then slide it in (so when it's fully meshed with the cam the notches are no longer lined up) or do I turn it back a bit so that when it twists while sliding in the notches are lined up when completely meshed with the cam?
Hope that makes sense, thanks in adavnce, Marshall

Well, since the engine started and ign timing is good, appearently you're supposed to line up the marks and then slide the distributor in. Hopefully this will help the next person who searches..
