Default Auto SC300

Im about to pick up an Automatic 93 SC300 and wondering if getting an auto is a good choice for the SC300.. I guess Im asking this because the first car I ever bought was a 1981 Datsun 280ZX Turbo Automatic, but as time went on I had many comments like "Why didnt you get a stick"..... well now that I think about it.. who cares what people say.. I was going to pick up a 5 speed but cant stand the so-cal traffic with a manual transmission.. Even the 02' Camry I have now is 5-speed..
I guess I answered my own question.. I will get an auto.. but I guess my other question was.. Are there any problems with the automatic transmissions with the 93 SC300?

My plans for the car the usual.. Rims, Bodykit, exhaust and CAI... Turbo might be an option in the future if its available..

any input would help..

thanks -ed

here is a picture of my Camry:

Other than the usual moans about a slush box compared to a manual, the 4sp auto in the 93 is a pretty good one. Its not the fastest, but shifts are quick and for a 93, the programming is pretty good once the computer gets used to your driving habits; decent MPGs , though take offs are slow. In power mode, the tranny holds gear until about 5.5-6k. Pretty solid reliability wise, unless you go turbo, then I hear there are questions about its ability to handle the extra power. Uses good old Dexron II, so you don't have to shell out a premium for Toyota Type IV fluid. Only things I have heard about are checking for leaks around the rear main seal, and worn drive shaft bearings. I have not had any problems with mine, and have not really heard about problems from the tranny itself except from the FI guys.

Yeah man the camry is phat. I have a 92SC400 and am looking at another car right now. It seems these SC's are awesome value for money. Will probably get an SC300 as there are lots around now and give it to the wife and keep the 400 for myself. I would love e turbo set up but wont kid myself, I am so caught up in factory restoration first that I will never get around to a turbo ( while I am still young anyway )
