Default engine light codes

So I’ve got my 1jz gte vvti swapped sc400 up and running…. but I have an engine light and i’m not sure how to get the codes for it. The engine and engine harness are obd2 but my sc400 is an obd1 so i tried jumping the diag plug that came on my engine harness from wiring specialties but that didn’t work and also tried jumping the diag from the sc400 and obviously that didn’t work either. are there any other ways to pull codes? or maybe someone has had a similar issue?

In this case you will need to use the method for pulling Japanese OBD codes from the JDM ECU. You're running a Toyota 1JZ-GTE VVT-i ECU, correct? I am not familiar with how those get pin cross-referenced to our cars but assuming you connected the OBD port correctly according to whatever pinout guide was used that should determine how you can access the correct pins for the Japanese OBD code retrieval.

The very first thing I would do is contact Wiring Specialties and just ask them how in this application they wire up the SC's OBD port for Japanese OBD function and how they intend you to be able to use it. This has to be a very common question they get with all the swap harnesses they do.
