New copper washers need to be annealed (google it) or they will never seal. Since you are working with a system involving gasoline BE CAREFUL. I'm assuming the washers are the correct size.

The washers I bought from the parts store are M12 and the part is M12x1.25 so those are correct as for annealing i never annealed any of my brake lines crush washers so I didn’t think to do that here

Depends on the washers I've used brake line copper washers that leaked instantly had to anneal them. But if you don't think that's the problem then try something else.

Lex2k is correct - if you put normal washers from the hardware store in there they're never going to seal. Make sure you get properly sized "crush washers" from an auto parts store. They're annealed so that they "squish" a bit to create a tight seal. Swap those out and you should be in good shape.
