Quick ECU question
Hey everyone. I'm currently in the process of buying an sc300. The car has had some maintenance done to it such as new oil and water pump, ARP head studs, and a gte head gasket. The only issue with the car is that it doesn't run because the owner says the ECU needs a rebuild.
However, I have both a ge ECU from my current SC as well as a gte ECU laying around. I was thinking to plug in either one of those ECU's into the owners car just to see if it runs well and is in working condition.
Two questions at this point. First and most important, if I plug either of my ECU's into the owners car, could something happen to fry my ECU? The car has been sitting for a little while and I'm just a little paranoid about ruining my ECU from something unforeseen.
Second, if there is not any risk of my ECU's frying, would it be better to plug in the gte ECU over the ge ECU considering the car is running a gte head gasket with lower compression?
Sorry in advance if this question has been answered already, I looked around for a thread for a while and couldn't find anything.

I would gamble with a GE ECU vs a GTE one, due to price differences. I wouldn't worry about frying your ECU since it will be grounded with the nut, or at least you should. You may have issues at first from bad gas, dead battery and other factors.
Would the GE ECU have issues with recognizing the difference in compression or will it work fine?
You might want to run your part numbers against the lists in the ECU chart..
