How cool is that! Although I must admit if I saw one on the road, I'd probably still stay clear of it -- even with all the non-Google computers already controlling our RX's. I'm not so sure about self driving ones quite yet!

I was not aware that the Google map cars were self-driven! That's a little scary to me right now.

Human drivers scare me more than computer drivers. The old adage 'human error'.

Once computers are driving all the cars there should be no accidents, traffic jams, etc.

^^As long as the map information is correct. Remember that's put in by humans, LOL. I have to ask, what's the purpose of having a car if you don't actually drive it? The only time I'd want a feature like this is for long trips so I could enjoy the scenery.

I remember seeing a movie once that the vehicle drove itself, but as soon as city streets came up, it switched over to human driving... this would be great, IMO...

Google's laser radar that seats on top of it's self driving car looks like a memorial urn. To place the ashes of the driver in it, perhaps...

Are those cars entirely empty? I feel as if there would have to be someone just chilling inside in case something happens to go wrong.

I'm sure someone is in the car, but don't think they can be considered backseat drivers.

it doesn't use a "map" so to say, it makes a map using sensors, cameras and lasers. It actually "SEES" what's going on around it..

It might use a map like you do, to generally find out which way it should go, but it by no means is using a map to actually drive on the street and pick a lane.
