There were a few posts awhile back about Dunlops, Michelins, Bridgestones etc. After reading these and other online reviews, we decided to replace our Dunlops with Yokohama Parada Spec-x. At 45k miles, the Dunlops wore well, but compared to Michelins (which we experienced with Rx loaners over the past 2+ years) the Dunlops were noisier and seemed to ride harder. The Yokohama's are just as quiet if not quieter than the Michelins, seem to handle better, and were less expensive. It appears that the TireRack reviews were right on. Will report in another 2.5 yrs when these need to be replaced.

 

Let us know how the Yoko's work out. After a few hundred miles you should have a sense for how they are. I am curious as that is the brand I was going to go with at time of replacement.

 

I have read many reviews for the Yokahama parada tires ad most seem to be really positive. I am also considering them within the next year or so when the Michelins wear out. Let us know what you think after you get a few more miles on them. I was wondering how they would be in the snow or rain??

I am curious whether you were required to replace all of the TPMS valve stems when you got your new tires. I assume you were.

 

I think they reinstalled them (TPMS). They charged $8/tire to recalibrate. If they actually replaced them, I think the cost would be much higher.

Well, at about 200 miles on these new tires, we are extremely pleased. I don't think I remember what rain looks like out here, but many reports on Tire Rack of good rain AND snow traction with these. They work fine on sandy/rocky unpaved roads though.

 

Are they quiet?

 

MEP, yes, Yoko's are very quiet. Although it's been over 2 yrs, I'm certain these are quieter when the Dunlops were new. I think that they are at least as quiet as the Michelins that were on various loaners we've had. The kicker was higher ratings, and cheaper price compared to Michelins.

XMen, Parada's were back ordered for awhile. I'd thought I'd have to wait for another month, but they became available a few weeks ago. I jumped on it as soon as I found out, I'd figure they'd sell out again.

 

Good choice! Mine are working out great after 18K. Has a 'sporty' look to them as well.
