Just saw that:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/45218616.../#.TrqQNM2gVuY
"The latest recall is due to the possibility that the outer ring of the engine's crankshaft pulley may become misaligned with the inner ring, causing noise or a warning signal to light up, the company's U.S. sales unit said in a press release. If the problem isn't corrected, the belt for the power steering pump may become detached from the pulley, making it suddenly more difficult to turn the steering wheel.
In the United States, the automaker is recalling 283,200 Toyota brand cars, including the 2004 and 2005 Camry, Highlander, Sienna and Solara, the 2004 Avalon and the 2006 Highlander HV. Its recall of 137,000 Lexus vehicles includes the 2004 and 2005 ES330 and RX330 and 2006 RX400h."

You will eventually receive a letter in the mail. However, prior to that you may see a posting on the Lexus Drivers - My Lexus site if you log in. Will be under Safety Recalls:

They have sent notifications via USPS mail in the past. It sounds as if the dealers will need to have some part(s) on hand for the remedy so I doubt this will get done this year. More info will be forthcoming from Lexus/Toyota.
Be sure to bring your Lexus in with a nearly empty gas tank as most dealers will fill it as part of the recall program.

This might just be impeccable timing or just a weird coincidence but I have noticed sometimes while turning (it has only happened a few times) that doesn't feel like the wheel wants to move and I just have to turn hard and hit the gas a little and then its fine. Also my engine has been making some squeaking noises lately that I thought was just my serpentine belt needing replacement. Does this recall mention anywhere that the steering will become difficult 100% of the time after it fails or just once in a while like on mine? If anyone has any insight i would appreciate it.
Thanks,

I just read a portion of the Toyota announcement and yes the failure mode is: hard to steer.

Perhaps Toyota/Lexus is trying to tell me something.
<sarcasm> My headlights are not as bright as they should be due to the moisture that is constantly present inside the lenses. So, with my nighttime vision impaired when I am driving those back roads I need to be all the more careful because if something were to require me to use my brakes in an emergency I would not be sure if I hit the brakes whether or not the floor mat or other carpet piece would be in the way of the brake pedal. Or, perhaps if those were clear the brakes would fail due to the brake booster problem. And, let us just forget about trying to swerve out of the way as there is a good chance the power steering may not be up to the job either. </sarcasm>
