Question 4WD versus 2WD rotors

Are the rotors same the same for a 2WD and a 4WD?

Mine is a 2000 4WD with 84 k approx, have semi metallic pads, with slight vibration when braking at normal speed.

Planning to put in drilled & slotted rotors with ceramic pads.

In eBay I saw the same sold as a set - 4 rotors & 4 set of ceramic pads for a good price, but I'm not sure if this would work for my 4 WD.

Front rotors will work <--- same part #
Rear ones have diff. part #'s.
So I'm, not sure it will work.

If it's cheap enough go ahead and get them. You still can use the brake pads it comes with.

autoparts place...online has the AKA 707 & 735 for under $40 each set.

my question is...what brand name OEM for the Rotors because there seems
to be several to choose from. Rx 300 yr 2000 2wd front only.

I ordered it from eBay, the seller had the same for 4WD. $199.99 four rotors & ceramic pads.

How difficult is is to get these rotors off after removing the calipers?

The rear rotors are definitely different, but don't remember what but but I think it's the rotor width that is slightly different. The rotor pattern is the same, but if you put it on and then your wheels back on, the rotor and caliper might not align properly.

If you have AWD, make sure to get the OEM rotor for AWD. If you're buying aftermarket, they might just make it so that it fits within tolerance for both drive types.

The rotors are floating rotors so it's quite easy to get off; as long as they are not rusted. If they are rusted then you can put a bolt in the hole on the rotor and turn it and then the rotor will just fall off. There is a special DIY for changing the front rotors in the DIY sticky.

The front rotors came off easy, just pulled it out.

The rear ones are stuck i can get one side up, but sticks back in as if it is magnetized......

There is a rubber cap in a hole what is that for? This one is besides the two holes to put in the 8mm bolt.

Do not go any further in running those 8mm bolts.
You will cause more headaches if you pull it out too far and misalign the hold down spring for the parking brake shoes.

I'm sure this is covered in the sticky DIY but here you go..

You want an easy way to tell if the hole is at the bottom when the wheels are still on? I think most people are just lifting the back end up in the air with the central jack point and spinning the rotor by hand to six o'clock. You don't need to have the front wheels off the ground to spin the back ones by hand.
