Got my 2026 rx 350h just ppf'd and I'm not happy with any of this, are these normal after just 6 weeks? Installer says lifting is fine and they can keep trimming. they won't redo the lifting wrapped edges, just trim them.
Unable to open the link but if the ppf (paint protection film) is already lifting it was not installed properly to begin with.
This. Lifting edges are not normal. It's a sign that the edges were not properly sealed, the film was over-stretched, or there was contamination underneath. An installer telling you he's just going to trim away the lifting sections is just trying to avoid doing the job correctly. You've already taken LOTS of pictures () and documented the problem. Make sure you keep any texts or email communications with the installer as well.
At this point, you can do a couple of things. You can tell your installer that you want the lifting sections re-done properly or you want a refund. If you get push-back, check your warranty. Most high quality films like 3M or SunTek have a manufacturer's warranty against lifting. Check your warranty paperwork and see if you can go to another authorized shop for the repair. Hopefully you used a reputable shop who is an authorized installer for whatever brand film he used, and they will want to keep you satisfied. If not, hopefully you can go elsewhere.
The grille area doesn't look too bad but the other stuff does look sloppy and lazy. The door pulls in particular should've been one piece with the door PPF, not real sure how I'd handle this. Pillars need to be redone. I would allow just trimming the inside of the fender by the door personally.
To me, a big waste of $ unless you have a collector car or something truly special. That's my opinion but clearly others feel differently. My ES is nearly eight years old, never garaged almost 90K miles and the paint still looks pretty amazing.
It's a clear plastic film that people put over paintwork they want protected. Most just put it on the front facing surfaces, some extend it to all painted surfaces. It is thick enough to protect the paint against light parking lot scrapes, most rock chips, sand/salt blast, etc.

Are you speaking of the "Ceramic Coating" that is available today? If so, I had this done on my Lexus and I really like how it performs.

No, ceramic coating is not a plastic film. PPF is a real protective barrier, ceramic is just a fancy wax in the sense that it won't protect against rock chips and heavy abrasion.
I'd say nope, the film clearly has commitment issues at the edges. Back to the shop for a redo, please! On a serious note, though: I really hope the paint underneath wasn't damaged with the knife.
