Default Checking status of a new build

Is there a way to check how far along a vehicle is when it is in build status or in transit if one has the VIN, without going through the dealership? I thought there was a thread on here with a link but unable to locate.

I tracked my GR Corolla through the Toyota Inventory search. It occasionally updated the estimated availability and showed when it had entered the build and transit stages.

Is there a specific website you used? When I google Lexus inventory search I just get either the local dealership websites or a general Lexus website to search for vehicles near me. I've got the VIN so I was hoping I could track it myself.

It would be the Lexus search for vehicles near you website. In my case, it showed the vehicle I was going to purchase and had different statuses as time went by and estimated availability.

I don't know a way of searching by Vin.

There used to be allocation spreadsheets available that could be searched by VIN, but Toyota/Lexus made it difficult or impossible to update the spreadsheets. That happened in 2024, I believe.

When I was tracking our car starting Mid April, I was using the dealer’s order/build number. Not the vin.
but I can’t remember what site I was using.
there’s was nothing to see until build began. That took a couple of days. Then it showed in transit, including change of trains a couple of times. I knew it was at the dealer an hour or two before my sales guy notified me.

I was also able to follow it through the dealer’s website, but with fewer details.
