Default 2024 RX 350 does not move when accelerator is pressed

2024 Lexus RX350 doesn't move when you press the accelerator and feels like the brakes are suddenly engaging. This has happened 2 times after being parked. Have to turn off and restart the car a couple times, then it’s ok. Took delivery in November 2024.

I had something similar happen. It seems like it happens when I change the gear position a few times within a minute or so (like P to D, then R), My take is I have confused the parking brake, and it defaults to "on." Unlike you describe, my situation corrects itself after I press the gas petal. I do not have to shut the engine off. I consider my situation normal but shutting off the car seems abnormal

My parking brake continued to hold a couple times when I went into reverse while parked on an incline. It released after I pressed on the accelerator. Hasn’t done it lately.

That’s the hill holder.

Don't you have to manually engage the hill hold feature? I've never used it...

My car is set up to automatically set parking brake when you shift into park and release when you shift into drive or reverse. I don’t thick the temporary bill hold was the problem. I’ve only seen that work in drive to prevent unwanted roll back while going from brake to accelerator.
