Wipers Auto Mode operation
We drive a 2023 Lexus Rx350h.
When the windshield wipers are in auto mode, and the sensor activates the wipers, do the headlights also turn on?
In California, the laws require us to have the headlights on if we are driving with the wipers on.
thanks in advance.

The windshield wiper sensor is mounted on the windshield to the right of the rearview mirror.
The headlight sensor is the dime sized black dome on the top of the dashboard near the defroster vent.
They are not interconnected, if it happens to get dark enough during a rain event the lights will come on
but it is not a given that they will. We also have that law in IL. While some Daytime Running Light setups
have a fairly bright appearance, not all do, and none turn on the rear taillights to provide that visual warning
in obscured visibility conditions.

Um... You can... Auto is just an option -- you aren't forced to use it. There are still old-school "intermittent" options on the stalk.

I thought the choices were auto, low, and high. Not what I would call the old school intermittent where you could manually set it to swipe at lower rates than low.
it has intermittent levels on the stalk, but it's all "auto". Doesn't make much difference at all. Fast auto , & faster auto.
I appreciate all the feedback.
I respect Using the auto features are a matter of choice and preference. The down side is the what if, and the link to activating the headlights n taillights when the wipers are operation doesn’t occur.

That way, cleaning the windshield is in YOUR hands.

BTW, I understand the issue with auto wipers. If they swipe ONCE on a dirty glass, they just smear everything. Then, you GOTTA activate the washers! <<SIGH>>
