I have been looking online and even at O'Reilly auto parts for tire chains (actually cables) for my RX 450h+. I know it's a 4WD but in bad conditions chains are still required in the mountains where I live.
O'Reilly said they don't carry the bigger sizes, and they sent me to AutoZone. I could not find it on their website, nor any other. The tire is 235/50R21.
Has anyone purchased cables for this car? If so which ones and where?
I got a set of SCC SZ435 Super Z6 Cable Tire Chains from Amazon for ours. Haven't needed them yet.
Thanks for the tip on chains. I haven’t used them yet either but did a test fit on our RX450h+. Seem like they will work- no metal contact on the rims. A bit of a tight fit.
Came here today searching for this exact topic, so I sincerely appreciate those who've gone down the icy road before me...
Just noticed this while signing for my new 450h+:
I will look into the cable options suggested above, but was wondering whether anyone here has tried the Spikes-Spider (https://spikes-spider.com). I had a set on my '99 Volvo V70R AWD and really liked them -- especially that they didn't wrap around the inside of the tire, they only spanned the tread and the outer side of the wheel (via lug-nut attachments).
No experience with Spikes-spider as I've never even seen them anywhere, but I note that they call for lugnut attachment/replacement. Will they work with the Luxus Lug bolts?

That's a key question. The ones I had for my V70R, I recall they used "split lugs" (for lack of a better term) that clamped hard on the stock lugs when tightened down. They worked well, but they were dependent on clearance around the existing lugs. I don't think this will be an issue, since it was no more clearance than one would need for a lug wrench head.
I liked that I basically just attached the mounting plate, snapped the arms into place, and rolled. They're pricey, but when it's 20° out, windy, and I'm kneeling in slush, the faster the process goes, the better.
