"Never heard of it" my butt. Classic dealer misdirection.
My wife worked in the industry for two decades, most service advisors know nothing about something that has never crossed their desk and they don’t share anyway. They want to write you up and try to sell an additional service. Most of them aren’t even car people.
Having bought a new RX350 turbo this thread is one of the scariest thread seen so far. This car has been delivered to 1000s of customers across the country since late last year and did not expect this level of quality from Lexus. I heard Lexus/Toyota goes through rigorous testing of their products before a release and did not expect this. With more electronics and computer trying to control these are expected and manufacturers keep adding them which is expected to fail. Do these occur in models made in Canada or Japan. I heard some fwd gas models were made in Japan initially.
Lexus should recall across and provide a fix before they market themselves for 2024 model.
Btw, it is not green everywhere. Saw a brand new mdx which could not start due to battery drain issue/no fix and a customer pushed for buyback after lot of struggle. Search in YouTube for 2022 Acura mdx problems by Stone cold Customs. No one knows how to fix but they made a profit by selling. Tough times. every car has some issues..and not going to be perfect..fingers crossed..
I did a 1500 miles road trip across Yellowstone national park on a 2023 highligander le with 3000 miles on it last month. It was brand new and a turbo engine/rental car and it did pretty well.. same engine on RX350 here with other stuff added …
I am so thankful that we bought our 23 RX350 Luxury as a certified used vehicle. We have the full warranty for 6 years and unlimited miles. Knowing we were buying year one of the new model, the extended warranty was a must. I hope everyone gets their issues resolved in a timely fashion!

I share your trepidation about buying in year one of the new model (as we did, too) but I'm of the belief that major problems will reveal themselves well within the initial warranty period, as they usually do...I guess we'll see.
In regards to a buyback/lemon law request (different processes to get out of the car) you need to check with your state's attorney general. In florida it is 15 consecutive days to 30 days in total. I was over 2 months in the shop before I gave up. Contact your dealer customer relations staff and request a buyback (if you've met the criteria). They will contact a Lexus Dispute Resolution Analyst in your market area who will review your case (number to be assigned) and then make a decision on the buyback. This takes awhile as they need to inspect the records of repair and dormancy. You can still file lemon law with your state attorney even if they dont offer a buyback. The law is very strict on this. If you go that route, you'll need to send certified docs.
If/after they agree, you'll be assigned a surrender agent to meet you at the dealership to do the final inspection/title signover & presentation of the refund check.
Has the exhaust cam phaser issue been seen on the 500h? Doesn't it have the same turbo engine as the base 350?
It does have the same engine but there have only been a few issues reported on the cam phaser anyway with none on the 500h. I'm guessing it might have been assembly debris in a few engines clogging the oil ports to the cam phaser which is why an oil change might save the engine from getting the issue. The 500h is more likely to have transmission issues reported.
2023 RX350 - Multiple Warning Lights Illuminated after 700 Miles in 2 Weeks
Hi everyone,
I recently acquired a 2023 RX350, which was manufactured in September 2023, and it's been just two weeks since I started driving it. However, I have encountered an issue where multiple warning lights have illuminated on the dashboard after covering approximately 700 miles. Has anyone else with a 2023 RX350 experienced a similar problem within the initial weeks of ownership? Any insights or advice on how to address this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your input!
Hey, guys.
Here is the update, it's what they said "performed inspection and health check. vehicle produced code 05C00 for cold start timing issue. technician consulted with a diagnostic specialist, the issue is known by Lexus, and an ECU update is said to come out soon. Clear codes, and continue to drive. When update is released, apply to vehicle"
I know this is a subjective post, but I have to admit that after 3 months of owning my RX350, I'm struggling with the "joy" of ownership. After totaling my Q5, which I absolutely loved to drive, I had to find a replacement car fairly quickly - long story short, after 3-4 weeks of looking/driving numerous makes and models, the RX it was. Fast forward almost 90-days and I'm very torn on if I made the right choice; in the back of my mind I'm already thinking of getting rid of it next year. I guess what made me really start thinking about this was when a friend and fellow car enthusiast half-jokingly said a few weeks back that I was too young for a Lexus and he was surprised that I chose the RX - his comments solidified some of the nagging questions I had in my own mind, too. Full disclosure, I'm not young by any stretch of the definition, but I am a car guy and I love to drive. On the flip side, I'm also realistic about the longer term costs/risks associated with owning a German car. My Q5 was a CPO and was only a few hundred miles away from going out of warranty when it was totaled, and I was beginning to think through the cost/benefit of owning it for 2-3 more years. I think this might have been why I chose the RX over another Q5 or an X5, but the other main reason was due to the timing on both of those models getting a new generation design in 2024/2025. So far the "meh" experience of owning my RX is not what I thought it would be three months in (supposedly it takes 90-days for a person to adapt to a change), and I'm curious if anyone else is struggling with "did I make the right choice?". Is there a real joie de vivre in owning a 2023 Lexus RX350 that I'm not thinking of?
Is it just an age/image thing? I was in my early 20s when I first started driving a Lexus, it didn't bother me. Are you finding there are things you enjoy about the RX? Any qualities you like about the way it drives? Or are you just finding it boring and not enjoying it?

Great questions - ultimately I guess it's just a boring car so far; maybe that's a good thing for long-term ownership. I do like that it's fairly quiet except under WOT, and I like the flat torque curve and smooth transmission shifts. The fit and finish is good, the Lux seats are comfortable, and I enjoy the ML audio system. Not a fan of the 21" tire ride quality and resonance, and the infotainment OS and integration is not good, esp when compared to the Virtual Cockpit in my Q5. The Lexus app/digital key functions and features are poorly executed, as well.
