Default RX 350 vs. NX 350

Has anyone else actually test driven the RX and NX 350’s back to back? I’m trying to convince myself that I’m feeling more pick up in the RX despite seeing the specs are the same. The salesman said it’s because of the aerodynamics on the RX. Trying to make a purchase decision on one or the other hasn’t been easy as to whether the extra roughly 10 grand is worth it - space and amenities aside. Either way I go I’m looking at a Luxury trim fully loaded.

Welcome! My friend was in the same buying position as you last week, in short she went home with a 2023 RX 350 F Sport. She test drove NX and RX back-to-back and the NX was too small for her. She wanted the space and obviously the RX was the winner.

My daughter and I just went through this. The turbocharged 4 in the NX seemed faster and more nimble than the heavier RX. My daughter did not need the extra room so she went for the NX.

I went through this recently. Was able to test drive both the NX and RX back to back on two occasions. I found the RX to be the smoother, quieter vehicle both times. but I also noticed the body roll. I liked the nimble drive of the NX a lot more. I appreciated the options for lighter interiors with the RX which I prefer. However, it didn't wow me enough to justify the additional $10K to have it equipped similarly to the NX. The NX had plenty of room for me and when I found my exact desired spec for under MSRP, that sealed the deal.

Both are great vehicles and if you are torn between the 2, absolutely drive them back-to-back as well as take time to list out your priorities in a vehicle and how you will use the vehicle now and in the foreseeable future. I'm sure you know all of this already, but I know I had to remember it myself while in the decision process myself.

We would have absolutely gone with the NX series had the towing capacity been higher.

Thanks everyone so far for the responses. It doesn’t help that I’m coming from a GS 350….lol. I’m gonna go back and test them both again more intently. It could be my imagination but I felt like the RX picked up and responded to heavy throttle faster.

If you are looking for the hybrid versions, according to the dealer I worked with you have to wait a year + for the nx version. For the rx it's more loke 2 or 3 months. I admit I tried to sit in both and the nx was much more cramped for me. I am a heavier set guy and only 5 10 but my head kept hitting the roof and the seat barely fit me at my shoulders and backside..

Rx was so comfortable... just waiting for the one I want in the color I like.

I sat in a NX a few days ago and it feels a bit on the cramped side to me. I guess everyone has their own perspective and much is what you are used too.

It is very interesting. It depends on the car you drive to go to the dealership. It is funny, but it's true. I went to the dealer in my RX to test drive the NX. I felt NX was too small. Another day I went in my Prius to test dirve the NX and realized it is a good size. It is a comparison issue. Try this next time.

We tried the NX on a test drive and it was a non starter - small, a bit noisy. My wife used to an RX - we went with the RX350h.

We have a 2023 NX 350h and 2024 RX350h and love them both. They are different vehicles. Attached is a comparison.

Drove the NX and if felt small and cramped. Bought the RX. Now it feels too big.

Hope that helps ;-)

Just went from a 22 NX to a 24 RX and I couldn't be happier. I am 6' with a long torso and my head would hit the headliner on bumps. RX drives much smoother; I imagine it has to do with having regular tires instead of Run Flats.

I think you should test drive the TX; then you'll feel that the RX is just right.
