I've completed installation of my old V1 into the RX. Here are some more pics and a description.
This photo shows the phone cord coming out from within the console, though a ½" diameter drilled hole, continuing forward to the top corner of the trim piece, then into a seam(s).
In this photo, the console trim piece has been replaced as the phone cord continues upward. About 1" of the cord is exposed as there is no seam to hide it within.
In this photo, the cord continues up, tucked into the seam shown.
This photo shows the bottom of the V1 with three thin pieces of metal that have been stuck on with 3M adhesive. These provide the area necessary for the magnetic mount to stick to.
Driver's view of mounted V1. The mount was angled toward the driver while the V1 points straight forward. It's not the most elegant install I've ever done but, given the selection of mounts available, it's not that bad.
Just got this 2024 Lexus RX 500h which has the digital rear view mirror. Wondering if anyone has used mirrortap yet to hardwire a radar detector. I removed he housing and took pictures of the harnesses inside. I either need help in learning how to use a voltmeter to identify the switched 12V and ground wires or advice if someone has already figured it out.
If anyone can help, I’d realy appreciate it.
Here are the pics of the harnesses inside the rear view mirror housing…
A few of us who installed a dashcam used the right connector on your 3rd picture.
thank you. Any idea what colored wire is the switched 12V and which is the ground? I saw a thread maybe in Reddit that used the same connector but they didn’t have as many wires in it as this does.
update: having a recent series of warning failures on my vehicle, I’ve decided to just not mess with anything wiring related at all so Nevermind my question. Just going to stick with the plug in chord. Not worth messing with anything that would otherwise void the warranty at this point.
I installed my V1 Gen2 radar this past weekend. It was a very easy install and I was able to easily identify correct wires to wiretap in the mirror area. I mounted the radar using this radar mount/wiretap combo . I did want a Blendmount however they are still developing a 5th Gen RX specific mount for the current rearview mirror as it is a newer design, so the one that I got will do for now. I did sign up for the waiting list for the Blendmount, we'll see how this one holds up.
For the mirror tap install, drivers side, right plug was the one that I used. As you look at the picture provided by @Gus68 the Black and white wires in the plug, left and second to left respectfully, are the wires used. The black wire all the way left was the 12v acc on hot wire and the white wire second to left is the ground.

Recently made a change to that install. Wanted to add a voltmeter so I replaced the V1 with a new Uniden R8. The voltmeter is quite educational. The R8 is light years ahead of the V1, as to be expected.
You are correct the housing was easy to remove. One remaining issue, I ordered the same radar mount kit, got no issue tapping the hot (red wire) however the black one, not able to push it in enough so it is very loose and losing power because of it. Did you encounter the same issue?
I didn't really have any issues, but by your pic, I feel like my lead/taps to push into the harness were thinner than yours? Probably just needs a bit of massaging to get it in there, it is snug.
