Sorry for your issues. I bought the front camera only and it seems to be working fine so far. I spent $30 on a different dash cam and put it in the rear windshield :-)
I thought of going that route. A simple, stand alone cam for the rear window that plugs into the outlet in the cargo area. It will power up when you start the car.

Is that what you did?
Yes, exactly. With this method (two separate independent cameras), I don't have to mess with the wiring from the front to the back, and I also have higher "redundancy" :-)
I have followed this thread since Day 1. There are many different opinions on the quality, ease of use, cam cost and installation cost. After reading it all, I have decided not to get the camera.
-- I have been driving for over 50 years without a camera. Why do I need one now?
-- Insurance companies don't give a rate reduction for cams, even though they stand to benefit the most from them.
-- With all the cameras on cars already, how difficult is it to have ALL the cameras integrated into a drive/record mode? The rear camera feeds into the digital mirror already.
-- I refuse to pay some outrageous installation price. One owner posted that the quote from his dealer was $1200. Others ranged from $180-500. I am prepared to pay an insurance rate increase, if necessary.
-- I just don't see the cam as an essential accessory. I have the Luxury Package and have lots of stuff I don't need but, who doesn't. I'll wait until they are standard equipment.
I don't mean this as an indictment against those who want a dash cam. If you see one that you like, go for it. Cameras just aren't on my Bucket List right now.
No dash cam for me either. I was strongly considering one, but after thinking about it and doing some research on Florida law, I've decided not to go there.
A dash cam can certainly help prove you aren't at fault in an accident, but it can just as easily prove you are. At best it's a dual-edged sword.
You can choose not to turn over dash cam video. However, in Florida a police officer can ask you to voluntarily turn it over. If you refuse (like if you feel it would work against you instead of for you), they can get a subpoena to compel you to turn it over. They can also impound the unit (either the camera itself or the SD card containing the recording) if they reasonably believe it necessary to preserve the integrity of the evidence. They still have to wait for the court order to actually view the video.
During any civil litigation dashcam video is discoverable, meaning either side's attorney can put in a request for the video during discovery. They can also request more footage than you submitted voluntarily.
Can a dash cam help prove someone else is at fault if you get into an accident? Absolutely. But it can just as easily prove you were the one at fault. Is it possible that one day I may say "man, I wish I had put in that dash cam when I thought about it!". Sure. But the odds are just as good of me saying "I wish I had never put the damn thing in!" So, no dash cam for me. Obviously this is just my opinion and others will disagree, but this is what works for me.
I feel for you and I'm glad everyone was ok. In your case the dash cam (someone else's) worked in your favor. All I'm saying is look at it from the other driver's point of view. Did the dash cam video help or hurt him? If he had a dash cam would he have been anxious to turn over the video? I bet that guy was glad he didn't have one. He just was unlucky (and it was good for you) that a third party came forward with the footage.
This actually is a good example of what I was saying. For you it worked out great and was very fortunate. Not so much for the other guy, and had he had a dash cam this would have been a case where he would have been sorry he had one. I can definitely understand why you wanted one in your new RX given your experience. I'm just looking at it from a different perspective.
i go by odds in most things in my life . as an investor there is a chance i could lose money or be down in any year .
but over all the odds are that over time i will be up a lot more than down .
as a driver i feel the same way .
odds are pretty good based on my more than 50 years driving that it wont be my fault if a crash happens and so i now weight for those odds with the addition of the dash cam.

Perfectly understandable and I get your reasoning. Hopefully you've had your one incident and you won't ever need the dash cam
Did that accident happen in Queens? I noticed the Q28 bus in the background.
yep , the service road of the clearview expressway and 32nd ave , right before the throgs neck bridge .
we live in the area
I grew up in north Jersey and traveled in fairly frequently so I'm sort of familiar with the area. Back in the day I used to take the bus in to Port Authority, then take the 7 train out to Flushing and Shea Stadium to catch the Mets. Yea I'm old! LOL . When we drove I'd use the Cross Bronx to the Triboro, then the Grand Central Pkwy. It was either that or the Midtown Tunnel to the LIE. Either way usually sucked, so we opted for the bus and #7 train most times.
I love this one.
The FitcamX web site shows cams for up to the 2022 RX-350. Mine is a 2023. I want to get Front and Rear cams. I suppose I can ask their AI Robot about that.
I can't do installation (disability). Would I trust someone like Best Buy's audio geeks to install or should I go to an auto electrical shop?
I believe the model C will fit your car. Check out the options here:
The install for the front is easy. The install for the rear is much more involved, since you need to mount the camera and run wires under the interior trim. Find somebody who can take the interior apart and reassemble it without breaking all the plastic tabs.
