So this weekend my rear lift gate started grinding and wouldn't close. This is the third RX I've owned. And each one has had issues with the lift actuators. Was able to get it closed and get it to the Dealership this morning.
Is it just me? Or does Lexus need to work on these. My RX only has 54.000 miles on it.
Had to replace mine in 2019 RX because of the same issue.
Forget the noise - it was not closing.
They recommended replacing both - i didn't complain as it was covered under warranty.
I would buy the parts and have an indie mechanic replace both - save the working old one.
Good luck

No luck needed. I just called and asked for a loaner. Extended warranty paid for the repair.
We have a 2019 Lexus RX 350L and almost recently we noticed problems with the liftgate. The liftgate will on some occasions stop and not go all the way up. In fact, it's stops opening only 20% and can't go higher. So when you press the button on the keyfob, it will close. A retry in the most cases will work again.
Is this a common issue?
Is that a precursor of a newer problem to occur?
Is there a fix besides just bringing it to the dealer to claim warranty to get it repaired?
What's the cost for this repair if we were out of warranty?
Hi Everyone,
Hope all is well.

Well, are you out of warranty? If not, just go to a dealer and let them worry about it.
My wife has been having some problems with the liftgate on her 2019 RX350. Sometimes the rear liftgate will not open with the fob, waving her hand or the inside button. Sometimes it will only open partially then will not shut. At other times it works just fine. Anyone else experience this? I don't look forward to taking it to the dealer and having them say after keeping the car for a day that they were unable to replicate the problem.
We had the same issue just about a month and a half ago on the liftgate also. It's a common issue with RX per the service advisor. If your vehicle is under warranty, bring it to the dealer and have the structs replaced. We took a video of the problem and also showed it to the service advisor so it help besides showing them the issue in person.
Ours sometimes stops when going down, and retrying several times doesn't help, you have to push it down by hand. It's a 2019 and of course we've procrastinated and now the car is about 3K out of warranty. Is there anything worth trying to fix it, other than buying new struts? I'm not paying for the dealer to fix it, and I do all my own service work, so I have no relationship with the dealer that might get me some goodwill.

IMO, it's worth fixing. I will only get worst later on.
Did you ask the dealer before it failed? I was told the part is $900 each and installing was $200 in my area. I something find I can negotiate a lower price but still it's an expensive part.
You can probably purchase the OEM parts thru one of the discount Lexus places online or during a holiday sale and find any good mechanic to install them. Some people may even DIY but the rear door is pretty heavy.
