Default Adding washer fluid; don't let my mistake be yours

I was adding washer fluid to my 2017 RX and the lid to the washer fluid reservoir fell off and down into the engine bay. Most vehicles I've owned had some type of retainer on lid to prevent this from happening. Unfortunately and fortunately, I had to crawl under the car, remove a couple of clips, and retrieve it. Worse case scenario, the cap could have fallen into the drive belts and caused serious damage.

TL;DR Be careful when adding washer fluid, the cap can easily fall off.

Mine has an upside down "J" hook that holds the cap. It looks like it could easily be un-hooked if you push down on the open cap.

That's exactly what I have. Perhaps it was disconnected from the hook and I didn't notice it. As soon as I opened the lid, it was falling.

So if the "hook" is not broken, you should be able to snap it back in.

Thought you were going to say that you added coolant to your w w fluid reservoir or worse! Thanks for the heads up on the cap though.

I had exactly the same experience. You have to be extra careful to not detach the cap when opening it. Poor design.
