Why no CarPlay in the 2019 RX?
CarPlay is in the 2019 NX manufactured after 10-1-2018. New change.

Why wouldn’t they add it to the RX? Weird.

The RX still has the GEN 9 entertainment system (remote touch joystick), the NX got the GEN 10 system (remote touchpad) for 2018. All 2019 Lexus vehicles with GEN 10 produced after october system will have carplay.
The best guess is that the 4RX will get a mid-cycle refresh for 2020, and then get the GEN10 system.

Is it confirmed that new RX350s will get the gen10 system after october? This may delay my purchase!

No, not after October. The 2020 model year RX might have GEN10, but that's just a guess based on typical model refresh times from Lexus in the past. Don't expect anything new on an RX for at least a year
For 2019 model years with GEN10: RC,LC,LS,ES,NX,UX

Likely for the same reason it's not just a simple software upgrade from an iPhone 5 to X.
There's probably some hardware that needs to be updated to handle the new Gen10 OS (new CPU, more RAM etc); so it will not be possible (or not worth the effort) to patch the existing Gen9 units to support CarPlay (among other things).

Most likely, someone has to code the changes, ensure the processor is fast enough and has enough memory, then test, test, and test. That takes time and effort. Easier to just add it to a new car model since the testing is part of the new car rollout. In many software releases, it takes more time to test than code the changes. Morevover, the newer model will probably have a processor twice as fast with twice the memory...

2019 RX 350 - Where is Apple CarPlay?
Hi all, I bought an RX 350 for my wife two weeks ago; the Apple site had that the 2019 RX supported CarPlay, so I was happy about that. Fast forward to today, and I can find nothing within the car or online about how to enable it. With my Audi Q5, you plug in the phone and CarPlay automatically pops up...what is the secret to loading CarPlay on the RX? I'm getting a sinking feeling that ours doesn't support it, but I'm thinking that there is a step that I haven't performed...I hope. Thanks.

Apple CarPlay supported models does not show CarPlay on RX, just on NX. Thus, CarPlay so far has not been made available on any RX model.

Even cars with enform 2.0 but manufactured before october won’t get retrofit. Lexus confirmed.
2019 RX still have enform 1.0

Wow, I have no idea how we missed this when we purchased the 2019 RX. I swear that the Apple site listed the RX...maybe it was a mistake and they took it down, as it's no longer showing.
