2017 RX350 - has a annoying rattle/vibration from the headliner area above the driver when driving over any slightly uneven road. Light pressure from your hand on the headliner by the light/sunroof unit area stops it...any one else with this and any solutions out there?

 

You are lucky that you found it right away, in my case it took them a couple of months to find it, and I had to fall on the right technician too!
Mine is a 2016, and it had that same problem. It was squeaking only at the beginning and then the rattle began. They changed the whole railing system of my sun roof under warranty and it is fixed!

The technician told me that he did the same thing on a couple of RX before mine. But those where 2016. I am surprised that it still can be there on the 2017.
Go to your dealer and have them to repair it!

 

I've also had this fix done under warranty. It was approx $2,000 in parts. I can find the service record to quote the part numbers if it will be helpful.

moelfre - Did you get it fixed? I have moonroof creak / rattle on uneven roads (particularly rough highway stretches). I can stop it by cracking open the sunshade and pushing on the roof panel. I'm not sure if it's the glass roof / steel frame or part of the track assembly and my hand snubs the vibration to cancel the noise. What did dealer do for you? I'd hate to ask to get the whole roof replaced for the noise (dealer may push back on this as car is 3 years old).

 

The sound came back on mine after 2 years. I took an appointment at my dealer this Friday...

 

I just recently had a clunking from what I thought was the rear suspension but they said it was something about the moonroof needing to be torqued? Mine is 2017 F Sport. So this is probably what it was. Hopefully this doesn’t happen again out of warranty. I’m curious what it was they actually did now that it seems to be a common problem. Hopefully someone can post the actual fix so the dealer isn’t needed.

 

I have a rattle / buzz right near the dome light. If I hold the headliner the rattle goes away. On hot days the rattle goes away. The car is a 2016, CPO, bought it this spring, will a service for this issue be covered under warranty?

 

I had the same issue on my 2013 ES and was told sunroof.. Quoted around $750 to fix. Just lived with it for around a year and just traded it in on a 19 RX. Didn't trade in because of the noise, just really liked the RX and hope it will be as goos as the ES except the sunroof issue.

 

Test drove and they finally acknowledged the sound. I had to the to sit in the back seat and he found the sound more obvious.

But it's not coming from the sun roof this time.

Appointment next Monday and I leave them the car to diagnose the problem.

 

Sorry to bring this thread back. I have a 2021 RX (still under factory warranty) that’s having a similar issue. The rattling noise is coming from behind the sunroof on the passenger side, and seems to vary based on the outside temperature. I was finally able to show the dealer the issue in person, but they want an $832 diagnostic fee to move forward. If they don’t find an issue after removing the headliner (which they may not since the issue is so flaky), I’ll have to pay that. Otherwise, Lexus will cover it. Did anyone else have to pay this fee?

 

I had a 2013 GS-350, same issue, replaced the sunroof seal, problem fixed. Just bought a 2017 RX 350 F Sport, same issue, seal ordered (3rd try).

 

I had a rattle and finally discovered it was not the headliner, but was coming from the sliding mirror cover on the sun visor. After closing it completely, it went away.

 

on our 2022 RX 350 the cloth shade flops up and down when i have thew windows downs that's annoying

 

That's normal, any car will do that. Even without a sun/moon roof, I get alot of wind buffeting with the windows down.
