Lexus Navigation Map Update
Hi y'all:
My new house was built in April 2017 and I just purchased a late 2017 RX 350 (produced in Sep 2017). Currently, when I tried to enter my home address; I couldn't. The street does not even list in the car's nav. Have a couple quick questions: When does Lexus normally update its vehicles' map and When should I be able to see my new street appears in their map?

Just give them a call and let them know where your new house is and they will get right on it.
Lol kidding
Usually several months or years for most maps, Google maps might be better
Have to use whatever is close to your house as a home location.

Find out whose maps Lexus use in the US and go to the website (TomTom/Here) and search for your address on their website, if it's there it would be on the next update.

and the dealer will most likely charge a couple of hundred $$$ for the update.....
am considering not getting "Nav" on my next RX 350
Navigation adds $2000+ to msrp and I have two Navs on my cell phone.

Does anyone know how much a map update costs? Do you have to go to the dealer to have it updated? or can you do it yourself? I don't think that my map has ever been updated, so I just use the map app on my phone because it factors in the traffic in real time - that is something that the car map system cannot do.

It's a micro SD card, located by the charging socket, to the right of the cubby
About 2 or 300? I'm guessing, other manufacturers are closer to 200.
Not sure if the SD card could be "backed up" or not.

Is there a way to turn on "Night" mode for maps display? The daytime display is too bright for night time driving, on my wifes 2012 RX350, it is automatic switching.

Thanks for everyone who has replied, though I just figured out that I am in the wrong forum, I should be posting in the 2nd Gen RX forum as the question is for a 2008 RX350 and my headlights are already in the auto setting.

GPS maps are typically about 2 years behind reality, there is a whole explanation as to why that I was given to me by the CEO of Navteq a few years back at an event I attended, but the bottom line is that they typically don't get added to the maps until the property is release by the city and or county and or state assessors offices, depending on where you live the red tape can take several years.
Google/Apple/Bing maps are a little better because they have vehicle out there doing the street view, plus they accept user input and validate the changes when you use their contact channels to advise them of changes to areas or POVs, Waze (Google) is the best at doing it.. Around me a street was eliminated, the city opted to stick a building in the middle of the road and dead end the road on either sides of the building to stop people from using it as a short cut to get around the major intersection. I advised Waze and 3 weeks later after they verified, the waze and google maps were updated.. OEM maps 5 years later still show it as a through street.
