Unhappy Malfunctions Galore - my new RX 350

I hate to write this but I am having troubles with my RX350 since day one.

1. There is weird rattling from the dashboard of the car. Took it to the dealer who said debris stuck in the blower and cleaned the filter. Sadly the issue persists. Going to drop the car this week for an overnight look. There is a compilation of videos in my drop box. Has anyone else experienced this before?

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/achfibgnu...UMqZReE7a?dl=0

2. iPhone connectivity; my phone connects to the car's infotainment system over Bluetooth. When my phone gets a call or when I make a call, the call progress shows up on the car's infotainment screen, but the audio of the call does not actually get transferred from the phone (iphone) to the infotainment system. I see an option of selecting "Caraccessory" as audio source, but it never happens. The car's display stays on "Headset mode" even when I don't want it to.

Any advice is great. I feel like I am shooting in the dark. Did not expect these issues from a premium Luxury brand known for its reliability. I hope it's not a Lemon.

I can't access your drop box, but that would probably be just me.

Not connecting your phone so it works is no big deal and surely does not make me jump to the conclusion that you have a lemon. My dealer (sales) set my phone up for me as they do dozens of them. Lots of people have issues connecting their phones and it's usually a user issue, and or not understanding how the two technologies talk to each other.

As you are going back to the dealer for the rattling in the dash board, it doesn't surprise me that it didn't get fixed the first time. It is a rare moment in Lexus Repair that the dealer gets it right the first time. Four times for my rattle in the rear end, three times for hesitation (still working on that one), twice for the rear spoiler, twice for pulling and strange tire wear. I do however like driving their loaners! Good luck hope they get it right the second time.

So a rattle and your phone not working is "Malfunctions Galore?"

I don't know about others, but these things do matter to me. When I am an owner of a new car with MSRP $60,000, I do not expect these things to happen. If I am buying a car worth $5000, and I am the third or fourth owner, I will be ready for such issues. I'm a very hard-working person and I value my money, when I spend money on a $60,000 vehicle, I do not expect these issues.

Also, before people reached to the judgment that it is a "User" issue, I owned luxury German brand vehicle for 5 years before my current vehicle and I never experienced any of these issues for the 5 years of ownership.

If I'm driving on a highway and somebody calls me, what am I supposed to do, hold the phone in my hand to talk, thereby risking losing control of the vehicle? I fail to understand how some of you are like "no big deal"

So now dealing with these issues in the 1st few weeks of ownership IS a big concern for me.

If you can't help me, you don't have to come here and beat me down either.

.
If I remember correctly when I get a phone call I have an option to choose if I want headset or let it go through the speakers prior to answering the call. Next time I get a call it remembers previous selection so if I hit headset next time it will be routed to headset unless I choose different.

So which issues you did experience that made you look for non-German brand?

Remote start my car when it is below freezing outside.

German cars don't allow that. It is illegal for a car to run without a driver in Germany.

Also, I updated the Dropbox link.

My dealer did connect my phone. Since then I have unpaired and re-paired my phone twice to the car.

Listen, folks, I am not trying to start a mudslinging war here. All I want is some insight from Lexus owners to see if someone else had similar issues, and what were the remedies.

Software can be buggy. Sometimes my phone doesn't connect. I think there is a way to reset the nav without disconnecting the battery. Try pushing the power button and holding it for 10-15 sec.

Also, make sure everything is set up before you drive. Make sure your phone connects, etc.

As far as rattles, I don't have any issues. There were issues with the NX but a previous NX user darth NX just got a new RX and he said he doesn't have any rattling or vibrations like the NX.

IF you can pinpoint it, take a video and show the dealer. I had a door that was missing a piece from factory that would rattle like crazy every time it got hot and I opened the door. I showed them and they fixed it.

It is possible for the cars to miss pieces.

Hi, and that's what I meant by a user issue and backed it by saying that many people have had this issue as well...I did not mean to say that you were making a mistake, just you didn't know how to do it with all the tech involved to get it going. Also the dealer can get the phone working as you would like to use it. I'm in the same boat, I couldn't get mine working either and did what you did gave it to the dealer....Glad it worked out and it's working!!

Dealer paired my wife's phone - I subsequently paired my own and both have been connecting flawlessly during the first month of ownership. I would go back to dealer if you're still having issues. Did you check the manual page by page - if not it's worth your time. All of this technoloogy has various settings that dont necessarily work by default.

Sorry about that, but "Malfunctions Galore" was a little over the top.

Had three 450h units and not a rattle in one of them. My iPhone 7+ has paired with out flaw on all three and worked perfectly.

The dealer should have a technology specialist to assist customers with these kinds of problems. There are numerous things that can cause issues. As for noises, no car is perfect when built. Noises happen, you need to ride with someone at the dealer so you can point out where, what speed, over bumps, etc... Otherwise, its a crapshoot on what people may or may not hear. Every car makes noises, alot, but some are normal and some are not.

I can understand how you feel as we all want our new cars to be flawless after we make the decision to purchase. I am perplexed what the rattling sound could be and hope that the dealership can adequately diagnose the issue. I do hope other than that, you've been enjoying the ride and comfort as I and many of us have. There are some quirks I'm still getting used to myself, but overall really love my RX.

As far as phone pairing, I've been fortunate to have both my Android and my wife's iPhone setup and working with no issues. In the past with some cars when I did have that kind of issue, ultimately I deleted a given phone and configured as new. Not as tech savvy as I would like to think sometimes, but have managed to navigate and utilize most of the instruments on my vehicle.

If I understand correctly, BMW has their own "geniuses" for their customers.

I do not get that option when I get a phone call. So when the stated malfunction occurs, my iphone identifies my car as "CARACCESSORY" (which you can see in the bluetooth section), and on my car's display the call is in "HEADSET MODE" which cannot be unclicked.

Since the unpair and re-pair, the car is identified as "LEXUS RX" by my phone and calls work fine!

I will be talking to a Tech Specialist at the Lexux Delaership.
