I am not sure the mpg will drastically improve in to the twenties when the miles are primarily Freeway

EDIT: I guess I missed the sticky and my experience is not unusual. I drove it like a baby after today's fillup and got 18mpg in the city. I'll keep driving it like I was. Moving from WRX with premium gas @ 19mpg to this at 15-16mpg is about a wash.

I've had my car for 6 months and about 5500 miles. In that time I think the highest fuel economy I saw was about 19.5 mpg, on a trip from Atlanta to Savannah. My usual averages are between 14-16mpg. Dealership claims I should see at least 20.

I saw a few different posts in the past with mileage numbers ranging from 16-24. Can you share some empirical data with me? How inflated are your tires for say 50-70 degree weather? I'm not driving like a bat out of hell, but I did come from a WRX and sometimes find the RX slow; It doesn't mean I'm jumping off the line all the time. I usually drive in normal mode, but at 14-15mpg, I've noticed S+ doesn't make it worse.

Any thoughts on something I'm overlooking?

I went on a 5 hour road trip and going and coming back I got anywhere from 23.9 to 24.9 mpg and my city driving is approx 19 to 20.9 mpg. I'm pretty happy with this.

I try to keep my RPMs below 4k most acceleration phases, my tires are inflated to 33-34 psig. I'm not too hard on the throttle after years of driving a Prius.

My 17 RX350 F-Sport is averaging 17.5 MPG for the first month that I have owned it, local commutes mostly. My is350 was around 20 MPG so I was not expecting a drop like this. I use 91 gas vs. 93 for is350, hate to see what 87 would be in my new car. I am glad I am not alone here with the low MPG.

I believe I am driving normally as I wanted to break-in the car. This to me means that my MPG will only go down from here

An AWD relatively big SUV is alot heavier than your IS plus had a much higher wind drag. It will never congee close to your IS in terms of real world fuel economy.

Rx was designed for regular gas and should note make a a improvement to use premium gas.

Clarification question: After reading about how the RX is designed specifically for Regular/87, I decided to use Regular. I've used Premium in all previous Lexus.
Is there an assumption Premium fuel will provide better mileage when not designed for it?
Or suggesting to use Regular to improve mileage?

It is true you will have better MPG the higher octane you use but in our cars it's not going to be very noticeable. I have always used premium 93/94 as well. Our cars our made to run on 87 regular.

I use 89/91 now but it does not seem to make a difference for gas mileage as I had regular 87 in it when I bought it new about a month ago and the MPG showed the same as I was curious about that as well.

My first week of driving my RX350 and the mileage is dismal at best.
Odometer had 25miles at purchase and trip computer was reset at that time. Dealership filled up the tank, reset the trip computer and ODO meter now shows 160 miles total and mileage shows 13.1mpg :-(
Fuel tank is half empty.
All of this has been short city commutes with ECO mode on, less than 8 miles one way. I probably had about a total 20 miles driven at 60mph.
I am checking to see if there is a hole in the gas tank!!

I basically had the same thing... Mine had 12 miles when I bought it and my first tank was that low as well. I also wondered what the hell was going on but each tank seemed to do a little better. I have used 91 gas since (don't think that matters but wanted to mention) and I am averaging about 16-17 mpg now and I am just around 1,000 miles.
