That at least makes sense.

For people reading this page and don't know this, 4th Gen RX is using 433 MHz TPMS while the prior generations where using 315 MHz TPMS.

Those are the two standards used throughout the industry for the majority of brands. So any generic TMPS at 433 MHz will do! No need to be Toyota nor Lexus.

It's beyond discouraging that Lexus could not make their own brand of TPMS sensors work.
The ECU goes into a lock down mode if it thinks the TPMS is being messed with. It took a while for us to get info on how to get it out of the lock mode. Not everyone understands what needs to be done.

The sensors are good for about 10 years. I replaced the sensors on my 05’ tundra two years ago when the low tire pressures light would not turn off. Costco sells the sensors for for a bit less ,but not much $300. The tire tech at Costco gave me the info and I later researched it and all was true..

Yesterday, I had these installed in my winter tires:
Amazon Amazon
(Schrader 33500 EZ-Sensor) by the local Kaltire tire shop. The process went very smoothly (took me on time, process took an hour as indicated, wheel nuts torqued on the way out, tires were not dismounted so no balancing required). The first thing I noticed was that the tire pressure indicator was gone on startup. I called up the tire pressure info screen and it was blank all around. I drove about 5 km (3 miles) and suddenly all the values popped right up. So far, so good. Cost was $318 CAD ($235 USD). Happy.

"tires were not dismounted so no balancing required" How do you install new sensors without dismounting the tires? Just curious.

Break the top head and install the sensor. The. Reinflate. The price of install should include a rebalance though

Default TPMS on 2019 Rx350

I have aftermarket wheels on my RX with aftermarket TPMS valves. Lexus tell me they can't program the TPMS to my car and that I must buy Lexus ones for $500+. Is this true?
Thx for any help.

You should ask the guy who installed the TPMS sensors in your wheels.

at minimum you need to know what vehicle they were used on before. Then you can back track to see if they might work.

Here is a decent website that gives part numbers for different tire pressure sensors from various sources. Might help somebody out:

https://www.tpms.com/Lexus-TPMS-s/1851.htm

Great link, thank you for that info. I also found a site that's a Lexus Dealer that has a pretty good price on TPMS sensors. They're in Akron, OH. www.lexusoeparts.com

I myself am in the shopping phase for a 2021 or 2022 RX350 F-Sport, and hopefully we will be owners soon. I am proactively looking into wheels for winter tires and seem to find several different part numbers for Lexus TPMS sensors. 42607-48010, 42607-53020, 42607-06090 are the three numbers I see. I guess I will have to read the sensor part number on the vehicle we purchase in order to know which one to get?
