Default 7 pin Trailer connector with Brake Controller

Did anyone install a 7 pin trailer connector and brake controller on RX4?

I need to tow a trailer that needs brake controller and not sure about the wiring without causing issues with the cars Safety systems and the brake signal feed.

I added the Hopkins 47185 wiring to mine, it has the 7 pin RV plug as well as a 4 pin. But I don’t have a brake controller for it (yet)

I know these suvs weren’t wired from the factory for a brake controller so you will have to run the wiring from the hitch up to the dash to add one. Not sure how complicated that’s going to be.

I know there is a wireless brake controller that’s available but I’m not convinced as it’s Bluetooth and runs off an app on your phone. It plugs into the 7 pin plug on the suv then the trailer plugs into it. Kinda of makes for an awkward and long connection. I’ll see if I can find a picture of it.

How did you get the 12V (30A) power to the 7 PIN?
