RX-350 Dead Battery, Mechanical key wont open
Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum and was wondering if someone can help.
I have a question regarding 2018, RX-350. The battery died couple days ago, and the car won’t open using the key fob. I tried using the two mechanical keys I have, but no luck. Any one had that experience or know of an idea to gain access to the car without damage?
Note: there is not mechanical key slot on the trunk door.
Thanks in advance.

Does the mechanical key fail to turn the lock mechanism? If so, I have read that spraying a lubricant into the lock mechanism through the key slot, then letting it soak for a while, will likely free it up; the mechanism sits unused for so long that it temporarily seizes up.

It is one of those easy things you don't think of until it is too late, like checking the air pressure in your spare tire or wiping off the windshield wiper blades every 2 months. I suppose we could all make up together a very useful list of simple maintenance items not included in the Lexus "Scheduled Maintenance Log". ........................ Your thoughts.

Good idea Bill for preventative maintenance. I went out to my 2017 RX 350 and shot a dose of WD-40 "Specialist Silicone Lubricant" into that mechanical key hole. It will prevent the internal parts from rusting and freezing up. I think maybe once every 2 years would do the trick.
