Default Rear Hatch Buttons

10 months into my 2020RX, I still can’t figure out the open/lock/unlock buttons when you reach “up under” above the license plate, just right of center. I’m not even sure if there are 2 or 3 buttons…the right one is distinct but it’s not clear if the other is one or two. Thank you in advance for a full explanation of how this works.

There’s only one other button besides the big rectangle one (the lift gate) and it’s a small round button used for locking.

Press it to lock the car

I read page 102 and it’s still not clear. Is the big rectangle a left-right “toggle”, or a single action button that unlocks with a quick touch and both unlocks and opens the hatch with a longer hold? Why is the lock button tiny, but this rectangle so huge, if they both do opposite ends of the same function?

Just raise your hatch and look at it. When your hatch is closed, and you can't see where your fingers are, you need a big surface on the switch to make it easier to find. When the hatch is up, and you're ready to close it, you're looking right at the needed switch -- no mystery where to push. There's no toggle to it.
