Swaying/Rocking back and forth on highway?
Hey all, Just bought a 2016 RX 350 yesterday, coming from a 2008 Acura RDX. I took the RX out on a longer highway drive yesterday after purchase than what I was able to do at the test drive, and after about 20 minutes noticed that I was swaying around inside the car. Looked outside, wasn't particularly windy - but that was the feeling inside the car. The car itself seemed pretty stable, maybe a slight pull to the left, but my actual body was swaying back and forth left to right. Never experienced anything like that in the RDX. I get that the RDX has a smaller wheelbase and is a little sportier, but the swaying didn't feel normal, and I've driven and rented other cars around the size of the RX and not experienced that. City driving is fine, it's a highway issue. Anyone else had this happen? Is it a shocks/struts thing; alignment? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
I don't quite get it when you say your body feels like it's swaying but the car doesn't. Have you had a passenger with you when it happens? If they don't feel it then I don't know what to say. The easiest thing to do first is to check the air pressure in the tires and make sure it's correct. Could it be the road you were on?
Otherwise, if you bought it from a dealer, take it back to them and see what they say. If you bought it privately, take it to a local alignment shop.

I have something similar with our 17 RX. The car seems to drift and you do a lot of steering. When we go back for the 30K service, I am going to complain. I considered the 20 in tires, or the electric power steering, or the Lane Centering and Assist (which doesn't work on ours) or alignment. Were you using the Lane Assist or Lane Centering? In a Subaru, they cause it to ping-pong in the lane. The 17 does not drive as well as our 11 did!

This may or not be relevant, but on some sections of I10 in Houston, west side, the concrete is "stripped" apparently for water drainage control or something. I think it is called "sipping". Anyway, you can look at the lines in the concrete and see that they are not straight, but wave some. When on this part of the road, my 2020 RX wants to track the lines and moves slightly back and forth. Does not do that on any other road. Just a thought.
