I do not have an F-sport so this is a general comment. Whenever I hookup an OBD2 reader to any of my cars and look at rpm at idle there are constant 50-150rpm fluctuations. On some vehicles this was enough to to see small fluctuations in the tachometer but in most I believe the tachometer isn't sensitive enough to detect these small changes in RPM. If the car is otherwise performing normally in every other way I would not worry about it - my guess is the digital tach is more sensitive than the analog tach.

So whatever fix they applied seems to have worked. It doesnt do the 150 rpm jumps anymore. Since I picked up the car on a saturday, the service wasnt open so I dont exactly have the documentation of what they did but on the phone call they said they cleaned the throttle body and reset the ECU. May be tell your service guys to do that.

Is your RPM needle dead steady now with no fluttering whatsoever?

Would you be able to share what they wrote on your service receipt?

OP, mine does the same, would it be possible to clarify: ECU reset? does it mean cleared codes(permanent/pending codes) or battery terminal was disconnected, which flashed the ECU memory?
thanks!

They either pulled the fuse of the ECU or disconnected the battery, killing all power to the car. Leave the battery unplugged for 5min to ensure reset.

Does anyone feel the car surging? You would feel 150rpm surge or engine vibration for sure + hear it in the idle. Especially from the OP's video, the needle is jumping. If you don't hear or feel anything, my assumption is it's just the signal - clusters aren't very accurate. Monitor the situation, have it documented and if something comes up, it will be covered under warranty.

One last thing. Get your car warmed up and drive it hard, this helps clean buildup, evaporate any moisture, helps the car run smoother.

There is slight fluttering as before but that is because the needle shows even the slight up and down as it is very sensitive unlike an analogue needle.
Sorry i dont have the service note as of now but I will get it when my car goes in for service next week.

This has been covered in detail on another thread. Do a search and you'll find it.

my model is rx350 base non f sport, and my rpm actually seems to dip lower and bounce back up.

Default Roughly idle

I picked up a brand new F Sport last weekend and I noticed that sporadically the car will lightly vibrate/idle roughly as I come to a stop at a stop sign or red light.

Could this be just bad gas? I haven’t used a full tank yet. I can’t seem to catch it on video occurring because it doesn’t happen very often. It’s almost like the car is about to run out of gas but nothing happens once I start driving.

Seems to be a reported problem with the 4th gen FSport Rx. Brand new, less than 100 km on the odometer?

Not sure if it’s related to my issue of the rough idle, but the check engine light and a bunch of warnings regarding traction, AWD, parking brake, etc turned on. Message on dash advised to bring to dealer.

Waiting to see what happens now. Less than 350 miles on the car.

The car in question is a 2016 Lexus RX350 F Sport which I bought used with around 42k miles on the clock. The issue is that sometimes when I am simply standing at the traffic the light with transmission in D, the idle rpm is not constant and it keeps jumping by about 150 rpm or so. Even otherwise the rpm needle is never rock stable as it should be but it could be due to the fact that the rpm instrumentation is fully digital in F Sport and there are 20 notches for every 1000 rpm with each notch corresponding to about 50 rpm and therefore even slight variations will be caught. The question I want to ask my fellow Lexus mates is
1. Is your RX350 idle rock steady? Meaning when the engine is fully warmed up, can you see the rpm needle jump a little however slight (you may really have to look for it).
2. The issue with my car is idle jumping by about 150 rpm standing still and doing nothing. It was reported when my Lexus went in for service for other smaller issues (thread link: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...placement.html) and while I was able to recreate it whenever I wanted to (gentle stop to complete halt and the rpm needle will fluctuate), I can no longer recreate it. It now happens when it happens. Also attaching the video of the same happening on two separate occasions. I am using premium 98 octane gas. What do you think could be the issue here?

3. What is the technical spec for the idle rpm for this engine if you know? I tried searching but could not find anything. Usually it is specified as xxx +-xx rpm

Thanks a bunch in advance and a very happy new year!
I have the same car as you in Sydney, how can I fix this problem?

i have this happen on an older car, not Lexus. If I am in heavy traffic, the car runs hotter and the rpm goes higher. Could be heat related, check the cooling fan to see if it's working properly.
