So we are in the market for an RX350L, we love our 04 RX, but after 15 years and nearly 260,000 miles it’s time to refresh the garage. I would like to buy used but I wonder if I get a used one from outside California, will it have less emissions restrictions than one from California. Years ago you could usually find that being the case, but with a vehicle like the Lexus, where they may be basically the same no matter what state you get it from. Does anyone have any experience or opinion to share!

 

The “outside CA” emissions standards made a difference in the 1980’s in some domestic vehicles, but not today. The bigger issue today is the drive by wire throttle system, and unfortunately, they all have it.
