[Lexus forum moderator: Please DO NOT move my post to an existing "dimming" topic since my question has NOTHING to do with dimming. This is a NEW topic. Thanks.]
I'm hoping those of you who own the 4th generation RX (ours is 2018 RX350) can set the record straight on this question. My wife is the main driver of this RX and she says the two round gauges (one for MPH and the other RPM) in the instrument panel have gone "dark" during daylight. She recalls these two large round gauges used to be illuminated in white or bright color during daylight but now the two gauges have no white illumination during daytime. When night comes, the gauges and rest of instrument panel are lit up when the headlights are on. Since I hardly drive this vehicle, I have no idea what the round gauge lighting should look like during daylight or whether they are supposed to light up in white. On page 89 of the Lexus RX350 Owner's Manual, it says "... the brightness of the meters is changed between day mode and night mode" but it doesn't give example what the meters or gauges should look like in the day mode or night mode. Hope you guys can help to clarify. Thanks.
Did she try pressing the brightness button up arrow during daylight? Try it headlights off and also headlights on.
Yes she did but it didn't change to bright or white color she was describing. I did stop by the local Lexus dealer and looked at the 2019 RX instrument panel round gauge lighting during daylight and they don't turn white or bright color during daylight as my wife had described. The brightness control did increase the brightness a bit but not to the extent as she had described. I believe she was mistaken since the gauge lighting seems fine to me. Thanks.
