Default Alexa in 18 RX-350L

I've been trying out an Amazon Echo Dot in my 350L. (This was a wife-wish for longer driving trips)
The simplest implementation for me is to connect the Dot through a hotspot using my cellfone.

What hasn't been worked out is a good mounting position.
Initial tests were very good, as the Dot has been quite reliable in understanding commands with the
Dot located just about anywhere. Even sitting on the floor behind the console works well.

Anyone else putting a Dot in the car. I'm interested in location suggestions, and any tricks
of no fuss hotspot setup. My Samsung S7 requires turning off wifi, and turning on the hotspot.
The phone has a mind of its own related to those settings.

The Roav Viva isn't perfect, but does a fairly good job of adding Alexa to an RX without the hassles of connecting a Dot. You plug the Roav Viva into the cigarette lighter and then either connect your phone by USB or Bluetooth. Here's a link:

Why don't you try the Echo Auto. This routes everything to your phone so you don't have to deal with hotspots.

I had to request an invitation for the Echo Auto. Is that normal?

Yes. I requested an invitation the first day that Amazon announced Echo Auto, and am still waiting. Initially, we were told that invitation would go out by the end of 2018 but, apparently, there has been a delay. If you go the Echo Auto description on Amazon.com now, it says "We will be sending out invites over the coming months and will reach out when yours is available." I had a similar experience when Amazon Echo was first announced, but my half-price early buyer unit eventually arrived. If you don't want to wait, you might want to try Roav Viva. Here's the link:
