DIY - Reduce/Eliminate Console Squeaks
Bought a 2020 rx 450h recently. The center armrest would make some creaking noise when I have my elbow resting on it. It also makes noise when the car goes over some bump. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
thank you!

You could start with a little lubrication on the hinges or hinge. I never looked to see if there is one or two hinges. It's possible that two plastic pieces are rubbing together.
Good luck, I'm sure you'll fix it. Just curious would it be covered under warranty?

I went to my local Lexus dealership and they said it will cost 200+$ just to diagnose. I was like… That’s why I’m thinking about fixing it myself. The car is a 2020 model with around 38000 miles (bought it used recently). maybe the previous owner has strong elbows XD
Just checked Lexus website. Says not covering “Noise, vibration, cosmetic conditions and other deterioration caused by normal wear and tear.”

After driving or as the cabin warms up there is rattling noise I recorded in this video the noise that I am trying to stop.
I drilled down to the headunit of the car (radio unit) which after removing the radio and with gentle shaking I could hear the noise. Initially thought it was the air vents in this unit but those once separated were not the cause.
After those were removed it seems like the hazard light switch and the plastic trim all contribute to the noise.
my next plan is to try to remove the hazard lights switch but in this generation of the RX the radio unit has a single metal panel which covers the switch and is party of the pioneer brand radio. Also there is no part number for the hazard light switch that I found which to me means it’s not a serviceable part.
Has anyone replaced this switch? Did the entire faceplate and radio need to be disassembled?
