Friend has a 2017 RX 350 and is looking at the 2022 MDX. She needs a bigger SUV for dog crates and grandkids She forwarded pics of the MDX cargo area with third row down and second row down. It is considerably larger then the RX.
Given our kids are more grown up now, we are looking the RX also. Coming from a Honda Ody, the biggest question is the cargo room. Somethings we may need the space to load special things from time to time.
Hi guys, wondering if the trunk space in the rx is adequate for families? I currently have an Acura RDX, and our trunk is quite spacious. The measurements are- 29.5 cubic feet, and 58.9 cubic feet with seats folded down. From what I’ve read, the rx measurements are 16 cubic feet, and around 32.6 cubic feet with second row folded down. We have one kid and will potentially have a second. Really considering the rx however a bit worried about the cargo space. Do people with kids find the space adequate? Thanks!
Cargo space is small. Top slope is killing it. Don’t get me wrong it will haul your Costco shopping just fine but when you need to get your family of 3 ( or 4) to the airport with each having a suitcase… good luck. Best to see it for yourself. Take suitcase or two with you for a test drive.
Check out the RX 350L. That seems more like what you might be happier with. Cargo is listed at 58.5 sq ft with all seats down. 23 with the third row down.

You will be disappointed.
In terms on numbers, my family is small (3).Going camping or traveling far with the 2020 RX450h has been a challenge with cargo room. My wife is an avid gardener, and we still need to keep the 2002 Odyssey around to haul lumber and fertilizer.
My wife is already looking at the Honda Odyssey and the Toyota Sienna....

Interesting. We purchased the a '19 RX 350L just last week. Sold the Ody to Carmax. I usually don't use the 3rd row but the space may come in handy. We will see in a few months.
I find volume specifications, but those mean nothing for me. I'd appreciate some guidance on how to find cargo dimensions for a 2016+ 450H. Would these numbers differ in any way from a non-hybrid?
I ask because I need to carry a large musical instrument (Grand Concert Harp). The big question is: does the second row seat fold completely flat, or close to flat? Other dimensions I need are length overall from close rear hatch to passenger seat back (preferably with seat in forward travel range), and width between the fender wells; height of interest, but not not crucial
