Default RX 350 vs Audi Q5

New here and ready to pull the trigger on a new RX350. My wife test drove the Q5 as well and is on the fence as to which one she prefers. The RX is a few thousand more and has a few more perqs. Thoughts? The 2.0 liter turbo in the Audi makes me a bit nervous.

Q5 is much more of a driver's car. The RX is more of a passenger's car. The new 2.0 turbo is much quicker than the RX. NVH is MUCH better in the RX.

I would pick the Lexus for dependability. I did the German thing twice and I was stupid to do it the second time.

The Audi is a whole category smaller in size and doesn't ride anything like the Lexus .. the NVH is not even close either and the standard equipment in the Audi is very basic ... and finally , it's just not a Lexus 😊

The Q5 is larger than the Rx by a tiny amount and is much more fun to drive , the Rx drives like a boat , Q5 is sporty and is you do not plan to keep the car for past warranty , the Q5 would be most fun to drive .
I'd consider the Q5 but I think it is a lot more money

I tested both but Lexus gave me more for my trade (RX350) than the Audi Dealer. The Q5 was fun to drive, and is smaller than the R350. Both drove great but were different vehicles. Both equipped similarly were pretty close in price. I had much more experience with the Lexus dealer than the Audi dealer so I choose the RX. I would not worry about the 2.0 liter turbo as a decision not to buy the Audi. I did not consider the Audi as a sporty suv, that being said the Q5s was much more fun and did have me thinking....lots more cash though.

Q5 larger than the RX?? The RX is more than 8 inches longer.

To the OP, the RX does handle like a big car, slightly boat-like, but it rides very smoothly down the road (which is what most people want from their crossovers). The Q5 probably handles better and does have some really nice (optional) tech. It also has one of the best infotainment systems in the business. Idk how important safety systems are to you, but it is standard on all RX models. It's much easier to find an RX with most of the features you want and get a good deal, rather than the long options list in the Q5 and needing to custom order it. Depending how long you plan to own the RX/Q5, you're safer in getting a reliable car that is cheaper to maintain by going with the Lexus. I will never own another Audi outside of warranty again because of my horrible experience with the 2.0T Audi engine. Lexus service was also way better than Audi service in my experience.

How does only width make the Q5 bigger than the RX? Also, if you even go to the Audi website, the Q5 is 0.1in narrower than the RX. The Q5 also has less shoulder room too.

Thanks for all of your input. We will likely keep this car beyond warranty and that was certainly a concern with Audi from what I hear. Looking to pull the trigger this week so will keep you all posted. Thanks again.

??? Do you have alternative facts? the rx is significantly larger inside and out. If you like the rx but want sporty, get the fSport. The sq5 is on my shopping list along with the plug in xc60 r design.

The q5 is in the same class as the NX. I had it narrowed down to these two. After owning the RX for almost a year I should have went with the q5. The q5 handled much better and ride quality was close. Funny thing is I went with Lexus because of their reputation and have had nothing but heartache with the vibration, drone and hesitation.
I say go with the Q5, just because it says Lexus doesnt mean your not going to have issues.

Go test drive both cars. I always thought the Q5 drove weird. Q7 is a far nicer vehicle.

Are you sure Q5 will have less issues? I am considering the 2018 redesigned Q5.
