Length Question
I understand that the RX is/will be increased in length by 5".
I don't know if the 2017 is 5" longer than the 2016;or is it that the 2018 will be 5" longer than then 2017.
Extra length is a negative to me.
Clarification: i'm only talking about cars.

Let me see if I can clarify this. The 2015 Lexus RX is 187.8 inches long. The 2016-2017 Lexus RX is 192.5 inches long. This represents an increase of 4.7 inches or as you said, ~5 inches. By the way, the RX is fairly wide at 75 inches in width. For reference...
Toyota Camry is 190.9 inches long.
Hyundai Sonata is 191.1 inches long.
Honda Accord is 192.5 inches long (same as RX).
RX competitors that are shorter is as follows.
Lexus NX is 183.5 inches long.
Mercedes GLE is 189.1 inches long.
Cadillac XT5 is 189.5 inches long.
Lincoln MKX is 190 inches long.
Porsche Cayenne is 191.1 inches long.
Now, there is a rumor that the RX will be available some day with a third row (the RX 350L and RX 450hL). This model may be increased in length beyond the current 192.5 (or it might not be made longer). For your reference, here are some other three-row crossover sizes.
Toyota Highlander is 192.5 inches long (and 76 inches wide).
Acura MDX is 196.2 inches long (and 77 inches wide).
Infiniti QX60 is 196.4 inches long (and 77 inches wide).
BMW X5 is 192.4 inches long (and 76 inches wide).
Audi Q7 is 199.6 inches long!!! (and 78 inches wide!!!)
