When I got my car new and drove on the highway, i put the transmission in Manual Mode and varied the RPM's driving down the highway anywhere between 5th-7th gear.
I got close to redline, but never touched it, but i'm accustomed to breaking in my cars hard from prior sports cars i had in the past...
Maybe there is a scenic route combined with some highway. As stated above plus I believe they don't want you standing on the brakes! ie screaming stops
i drove mine 511 miles from Ga to Fl.
my honda pilot never got to drive that long to break in the engine- it is a 2005 i got it with 6 miles on odometer, never had any problems with the engine whatsoever after 13 years. i still have it with 175k miles on it, only thing that broke in 13 years was the alternator, broke last june (i was pissed. lol). have a 2007 corolla too, still have it after 11 years and 135k nothing broke ever.
i would expect the engine of the lexus to last the same.
you'll be fine.
I went ahead and changed my oil the first time at 6 months and 3500 miles. I let the dealer to it at the 1 year mark and 8500 miles. I will continue to change the oil and filter myself every 6 months and let the dealer do it at every 1 year mark. So far I have owned my 16 Fsport RX a bit over a year and haven't had any issues.
I got my 2018 rx 6 weeks ago and still kinda babying it! I have only put 450 miles on it since I am keeping my old car.
I'd like to know the best ways to break in the car.
For my 2012 crv, I didn't drive hard until it had a couple thousand miles. Then, I really drove it hard and tried all the features extensively thinking if it break it'd break immediately or soon and still under warranty. The crv is running great today. Only one oil change a year.

Thanks.
I think 500 or 1000 miles is good enough for break in. Also I doubt we even need break in for today's new car. I had a CRV too, but it was a 2001 model. I did not do anything special, and it was running great (sold it last year). I also had a 2007 Suzuki XL7 (a GM SUV), I actually did something "bad" as I took the family for a 2k-mile road trip right after I bought it. It was still running strong at 80,000 miles when I sold it.
For our 2017 we followed the the recommendation in the Owners Manual. It worked for us.
■ Breaking in your new Lexus To extend the life of the vehicle, observing the following precautions is recommended:
● For the first 200 miles (300 km): Avoid sudden stops.
● For the first 500 miles (800 km): Do not tow a trailer.
● For the first 1000 miles (1600 km):• Do not drive at extremely high speeds.• Avoid sudden acceleration. • Do not drive continuously in low gears. • Do not drive at a constant speed for extended periods.

Awesome! That's essentially what I've been avoiding, except a couple times that I couldn't resist high acceleration on the freeway.
I will be picking up a 2020 RX350 in the next few days. I have to take a 1000 mile trip shortly after I receive it. My question is, in the old days it was vary speeds and don't go above 50 for the first 100 miles then 50 for several hundred etc.
Thanks for the response. I should add that I have to take the Interstate all the way. That makes it difficult as the speed limits are probably 65mph and folks will be going 75.
5 years ago I bought my 2015 gx460 in September 2014. After 120 miles on the odometer I made a 30 hours trip with more than 2000 miles, mostly highway. Today it has 49k+ miles and still runs as good and gas mileage is still as miserable as new at 17 mpg combined.
