I've had this problem on my '22 RX, usually while crawling at low speed. Brought it to the dealer several times, they keep telling me it's a "characteristic" of the vehicle (their usual response when they don't have a fix - same response they gave me when I complained that the gear shifter feels rough compared to other vehicles, and no not on an incline). They told me to try using premium fuel - I have, and it doesn't make a difference. There's a TSB out there for previous model years but to my knowledge, none for '22 and up. This transmission has issues and they need to fix it, smh.
I have a 2017 and had the hesitation problem described in the tsb. I flashed the updated calibration file and it completely eliminated the issue.
I noticed it when I test drove it but didn't think it was a big deal. Proceed to drive it everyday and very noticeable, stuttering jerky acceleration at times, at around town traffic speeds.
I used a vxdiag and got 2 day subscription to TIS to download the file about $160 total to do this yourself if you can acquire the software.
I love driving it now. I drove it 5 months with the problem and felt it every day. It's been over a week and couple hundred miles since the flash and the
transmission behavior is perfect. Completely transformed. I was not happy driving it and I found this thread and the tsb. Tried a trans fluid change first but the ws was like new.
Tried to use a cheap minivci which was able to read the current calibration ids but not write the new one. Completed the process with a vxdiag in 20 mins.
Still can't believe this vehicle has this problem requiring such a solution.

this is super interesting. If anyone else tries this on a model year 2021 please let me know if there is an update file available

I have to try this. I have a 2016 with the hesitation problem, I even paid over $300 for the tsb software update at the dealer which was a complete waste of money.

is TIS the 'Toyota technical information system'?
Yes it is. You can check your current calibration (with a minivci or vxdiag) to see if it was updated. The dealer should have installed a sticker in the location mentioned in the tsb if they did the update. You can verify if your car needs it before paying the TIS subscription.
I know that many people have this problem, but this gearbox just works like **** and ruins the experience of driving this car. It changes gears abruptly and sometimes senselessly, there are jerks during gear changes. maybe someone solved this problem? maybe there is some tsb? maybe another cure. driving this car is just tiring…
@ashilcoski is your transmission still performing better? I checked my 2017 and it seems to have the firmware you flashed already, if this is the good one I don't know what a bad one would drive like.

She was quoting my post, I flashed the trans. Yes it is still solid the transmission behaves as it should now.
To note, my issue was not related to shifting, it was something I could feel while in the gear, like a rubber band.
The transmission has a sometimes clunky shift logic in sport mode, if it holds the gear too long it can be weird, but that is normal for the trans model
and related to its shift logic and how you use the pedal.
I see you do have the update, so maybe you have some other issue or are expecting too much from the trans? What is it doing?
