Regarding auto braking in reverse . . . my experience when backing out of a parking space the auto brake engaged at super creep. Barely moving.

Mine did the same, I was barely moving. Worked great!

Default 2016 Auto Braking?

I was wondering if the 2016 will auto brake for you if it detects a possible collision.
I noticed that the car beeped today warning me but it didn't apply the brakes. I recently had a 2017 loaner and it auto broke for me in several instances.
My 2016 model should have the Safety + package included.

The 2016 had Lexus Safety System + which includes the high speed Pre Collision System.
New for 2017 is the Intelligent Clearance Sonar which stops from low speeds.

Will the car brake at all with Pre Collision? Or just warning?

PCS (Pre-Collision System) can apply the brakes at full force and tighten your seat belt so tight it will take your breath away.

I had this happen in summer 2014 when a stopped vehicle pulled in front of me while I was going about 60 mph. Full force braking and seat belt tightening happened before I got my foot off the gas pedal. It was awesome. It gave me enough time to swerve and miss hitting the other vehicle by inches. The seat belt unspooled with a loud ZING after the danger had passed. My chest hurt a bit from the seat belt for the next day or so but the system sure did what it was supposed to do.

Automatic emergency braking under PCS shouldn't be confused with automatic braking when using the adaptive cruise control (DRCC). They may use some of the same components but they are very different functions.

you will get the beep to warn you. If the danger persists you will get braking. It works great and already saved me from an accident.

I had an incident 2016 LUX with pre collision, the attendant in my condo was bringing the car around wasn't paying attention looked down and hit the car parked in front of him at probably the most 5mph at no time did the truck break itself. I tried to research this, but can't get clear answer I think it was either he had his foot on brake slightly or it was such low speed but still it really got me mad it didn't prevent this very slow impact. Please keep in mind on HWY I have had red brake light pop up many times and system set to most sensitive so I know it was on just don't know why when I needed it that it didn't work. Could the 2017 system be different, really hope so because I really had trust in it prior and thought it was great safety option. As FYI these trucks can't take small impacts it hit a car bumper the front plate pushed in grill which caused the chrome apron around the main grill to crack and break a little piece on main grill. I just had them replace chrome grill apron as the main grill break is minor and its leased didn't want screw valet as I am sure they made him pay out of his pocket..

If anyone has any insight I be very interested to hear why it didn't work and if 17 has new system...

The owners manual explains it pretty well. Too long to write here...Starts on page 270 for several pages...

According to your description the system worked, as it was designed.

I would just make sure that the system is turned on. As far as not braking going that slowly, it won't do that.

I will look at manual, because of speed its not designed to apply the break at all to prevent the impact?

That is my understanding from my owners manual. I have a 2016 rx350 fsport. On those pages it explains how fast the car has to be moving for the brakes to be applied and all the other conditions such as pedestrian, vehicles etc. Happy reading, good to know as well.

While Safety System + won't brake at low speed, the Intuitive Parking Assist will. I did not see it was mentioned on Lexus web site. But there are several YouTube videos demo this feature.

Not so sure about that. I can drive my 2016 into foam blocks in the garage and all that happens is the park assist warning. It does not brake/stop the car. Maybe it's different in a 2017

I wonder if that's case that in 2017 they added that, I really hope so because I understand yes it meant to save you from a high speed crash. However this little low impact would have been completely avoided.

I read somewhere it will only brake if you do not brake at all. If your foot is on brake, it will trust you to stop the vehicle.

Also, after the auto brake, you only have two seconds to apply your own brake. If you do not do anything, the brake will be released, and you will have low speed impact.
