I can't open/close the PBD from the dash or the key fob. I went to settings to see if I had accidentally deactivated something, but no specific on or off settings appeared there and I was unable to change the current status. Where do I go from here?

 

There is a specific setting to turn it off from the menu in instrument cluster.

Maybe take a photo of where you looked in the settings so we can see exactly what you are talking about. Your description leaves a lot of open questions.
